  1. These fotos bring back some memories. I used to catch the train to Farnborough every day going past the cathedral. I didn't think I'd see it from this view!

Cracking pics of Slyfield. We used to go to the market their during lunch at school. Can't wait to get flying to seemore stuff like this!

    Tj

Not a million miles from where we now live. Would love to fly similar route from Guildford over Wisley once have got my wings. Sigh

  2. Nice one Pete.

Not the easiest to figure out through the various classes, but a ton of interesting facts - including what I was looking for :

Distance in a straight line without landing : 1,105.0 km :shock::shock: Unbelievable distance ! How much fuel must he have taken off with...

    Date of flight: 23/04/2007

    Pilot: Ramon MORILLAS SALMERON (Spain)

Course/place: Jerez, Cadix (Spain) - Lanzarote, Canaries (Spain)

Microlight: Advance Omega 7 ( PAP ROS 1450)

Ramon is obviously a bit of an adrenalin junkie, as he is the same guy that set the recent "official" world altitude record - see a previous Videos of the Week clip here if you missed it.

  3. British PPG pilot Karen Skinner has recently smashed the female world distance record over in Spain.

    Previous record was 269km. Karen flew for 8.25hrs covering 450km ! 8)

She managed to take off with 40 litres of fuel

Quiz  : Does anyone know what the overall world PPG distance record is?

  4. Interesting idea.... but when are paramotor manufacturers going to drop the mechanical cable approach and go for a fly-by-wire' system....? Would be much more flexible, compact than a cable system, and could incorporate various systems such as tacho, rev hold governor, etc... perhaps even wireless connection.....?

    GD

This may not be as all encompassing as you suggest Gordon, but wireless throttle control is already a reality - if not widely available. Check out the following video clip of a test of the "Pi-Wi" controller.

Pete B previously posted this on the Videos of the Week thread, but the revised version now includes English subtitles. Worth watching the whole video for the sync flying, but the relevant Pi-Wi bit is from ~4m30s onwards...

  5. Jejunum.

The jejunum follows directly onto the duodenum. This is where the final juices to help digestion are secreted by the cells in the jejunal lining. (as if that helps!!)

    SW :D

Thanks Simon - didn't know I had that bit of plumbing. :D

I was going to say 'Jaw' - at the start of the digestion process.... but you beat me to it.

    Anyway onwards and upwards

    K => Knee

personally relevant, as mine is currently strapped up :(

  7. All,

In case you have given up looking at the weather...

Take a look at, Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. :-)

Please call 'the night before' if you want to come and do some training.

    SW :D

Great news Simon. I will definitely be up for Saturday, and may even be able to wangle Friday off.

If so, are your friends doing B&B again now?

    Cheers,

    Andy
