Come on! If I'm gonna sell a famous Tom Jones lyric to my 66 year old mate 'It's not unusual to be..... paramotoring at 66 years old', I need to see some 60 somethings stating their age and declaring their youthful pursuits. We're a decade off at the moment
Dan
ok POZ.
am 62. started paramotoring at 59, paragliding at 60, do about 8000m per year on my motorbike
play competitve squash and earn a living as a tandem parachute instructor (do about 15 tandems a week)
Just getting into powerboating.
Thinking of slowing down when i get old.
Tell this guy to get a motor on his back and start living.

Just to remind you it's the Southport Air Show Sat & Sun
but i believe it's been cancelled.
Following extensive negotiations the organisers
have been unable to get air clearance from Andy Walkden.

Hiya all
pity you couldn't make mon eve, there were 3 of us finally.
We flew from Formby field, perfect conditions.
First flight we headed up past Ormskirk to Parbold hill then back
passing west side of Southport, intended to fly to Andy Walkdens site
but one of us was bit unsure about fuel so we headed back and landed
to missus with tea and food.
Still plenty of flying time so after fuel stop we kicked off again, this time we went to Hightown
shoreline then headed along coast to Ainsdale then back to Crosby where we did some
low flying around the iron statue's on Crosby beach, loads of spectators.
Then back X country to field.
Topped it of with nice cool beer.
2.5 hrs flying in all, just what the doctor ordered.
Catch you all next time.
-
Thanks for replies, will let you know how we do.

Diligence saves lives and bent metal doesn't it?
I love the calm approach with a recognition that distractions can disrupt your flight preparation. Good habits will save you time but more importantly catch the things you might have missed. Picking up something at the last minute that might have caused you problems later won't always be chance - Training applies the focus you need and develops all of the above.
Sorry if I am peeing you off with 'worldly advise' here but the parallels with other forms of aviation stick out like a dogs doo-
. No-one can turn the clock back by even a microsecond ...
Good bedtime reading, prob won't sleep now.
Veteran of 5000+ parachute jumps, final checks 2nd nature (don't be distracted)

Sorry Ian.
Think it's time to bury this one.
Blue skies for all of us.
-
Steady on Al,
Remember we have to pass them to get to friendly pilots
in Europe.
-
Slapper,
I'm from Warrington. Always looking for new areas to fly so let me know when you are next about.
Regards
Chris
Hi Chris.
if you don't mind a 30min drive, i've got a field right next door to my house.
I'll give you a shout when there's a good forcast.
Needs to be evening though cos i'm up Lancaster way every weekend.
-
Take it you guys didn't fly last eve due to wind.
Got a 45min flight around Formby beach area during morning before
winds got up.
Let me know when and where your meeting up next and i'll try
and join you if thats ok. Carry my gear with me all the time.
Cheers.
-
Thanks for the reply,
I've driven to Thursaston so many times to PG there and its never quite been on. Next time I'll take the motor and give you a shout. As a matter of interest, why only evenings? is that the only time you guys can make it or is that more of a site rule?
I'm very keen to know / obey any site rules / agreements.
Hi arcus,
Local ranger is a grief giving knob, but he goes home at 5pm.
so site isn't very useable during winter.
come along some time, it's worth it, great evening flights.
-
I trained with Andy Walkden at www.flyschool.co.uk with a great flying site at Southport.
Great fun flying down the beach.
Pop over some time and we can meet up.
Thanks doc, Know Andy well, will take you up on invite.
tell andy i'm the tandem parachutist, he'll know who you mean.
See ya soon.
-
aa routeplanner reckons it'd take 49 mins from Northwicj to Hoylake so not too bad. A lot less from Chester where I think Nirmal lives.
Hi arcus, i'm one of the guy's who fly from (as you call it) Red Rocks.
It's a good site and there are normally 2/3 of us.
Your welcome to come along but it's normally evenings only.
There is some nice coastline or xc to fly.
-
Just a quick hello from a southern namby pamby who has had 9 flights so far this month thanks to our glorious weather dan saaf!!!
As Spock might say - There is life above Birmingham Jim, but not as we know it!
Best regards,
Ian.
Nice one Ian, hope your good weather keeps up.
Just trying to strike a nerve with the northern clan.
