  1. Thanks David, no offence taken what-so-ever. If anything, i'm happy you like them :)

I'll put up some words up with the pics. They are only a few to be honest, when I get around to sorting through the 1000's I have, the gallery will grow.

The site is ok, but like I said I did it literally overnight as a test so needs lots of work. Unfortunately, It does much more good for all the sites I link to than they do for me :)

  2. I'm just giving it a go really, my first real try at SEO. Google's not indexed it yet so we can only wait and see. It's more of an experiment really. To be honest, I just chucked the site together overnight so still got lots to do on it. But realistically, I don't have the time :(

I just figured my weird and wonderful hobbies and interests might spark some extra pocket money each month without having to do very much!

Simon, your site pops up everywhere I look so you're doing a bloody good job :)

  3. Hi

Is this flyable and how much longer do you estimate it would remain flyable (e.g. years, hrs)? Or is it just suitable for ground handling only.

    Regards

It's in storage at the moment but I had it out and flew it a few months back. Material in good condition, no leading edge damage. 1 small 'bramble' patch job. Only been used for free flight, no paramotor. I'll try and dig it out and give some more info.

    Hi guys,

i have a large swing arcus for sale if anybody is interested. I think I paid £300 2 years back so offers would be good. Ta - contact on here or on my site in signature. Might even be a pic on my site, i'll go see.

    Ben

    Bought a new wing Ben?

Yep, well a year ago. Only just got around to thinking about selling. Not been doing much flying full stop lately - damn weather. Can't even remember when I even logged in here last - too long.

    All good your end Dave?

    Ben

  4. I have broken my screen 2 times now - even in cases. Not happy. Lucky I can fix/replace myself. So, if anybody needs their iphone screen and digitiser replacing - I do it for £60 normally (lots cheaper than majority of places - apple out of warranty £120) but will do it for anybody here for £50.

  5. Wow, sounds great up until the end bit mate. But even then I think 'Disaster' is too strong a word really. You came out of it unscathed. So you broke a prop and cuts some lines...you are here to tell the wonderful tale of your muchos biggos XC. Plus, you still seem full of it so couldn't have been that bad when you think about it :)

Reading things like this makes me want to trade everything I own and get a motor on my back pronto :) I want to fly from here (just outside Luton) to Brighton one day, landon the beach - some fishy chippys and train home (or if the wind god turns around, fly back)

Well done matey - inspirational indeed.

  6. Well the reason I went for this radio is I figured anybody flying will either have PMR or 2m (and rarely AM but maybe on occassion). The VX7R lets me listen top both PMR and 2m at the same time. I just saw it as one less bit of kit to carry around. As we don't have a standard, some people use PMr, some 2M. I couldn't be arsed carrying both around and swapping depending on the day. Then you always have the possibilty of people using both types on the same day. Plus the VX7R is submersible, fairly small form factor and I live literally on the end of Luton runway so like to hear the chatter :)

Alan, the problem with PMR is something to do with ctcss codes i think. I've tried everything but can only recieve, not transmit :(

    Ben

  7. Ok I see.

I just did the solder mod, no pyhsical PCB modification at all.

Although I still can't get it to TX/RX on PMR. It only recieves. Arghhh. The radio does far too much, it is way above my head. I just want to poke in the frquency and talk :)

  8. Hi Alan,

I am techie, but not in the radio arena unfortunately so all that makes no sense to me. But I am impressed it does to you :)

My VX7R has been modified (available from a simple googly woogly) to TX on AM. I have successfully conversed with other airband radios with no problem (also marine, 2m and PMR [ish - having a stepping issue]). However, when I read other forums (radio specific) they mention that it is not transmitting on a true AM frequency? Does that agree with your fandangled stuff above?

    Cheers

  9. Paragliding frequency on airband dedicated to us is 118.675 I believe Bignos.

I have a Yaesu VX-7R which handles 2 meter, PMR and airband (rx only unless you modify - instructions available on net). Although, I have read in places that it doesn't truly transmit on AM - it is some kind of quasi fm/am thingy. I really don't understand it, but I have talked with people on other airband radios perfectly fine. I use it to 'monitor' - not communicate on AM.

  10. Nice video.

Like learner_driver, I thought you were usually in contact with the ground a bit more...or is it up to you? How do you stand (or fly) on a legal position there?

It looks like it has trim tabs (0:37 seconds). Is the harness designed for big air like that? I was under the impression it was a basic webbing harness like that used for power kites etc??

Still, it tiggles my fancy for sure... :D I WANT TO PLAY!

  11. Ha ha, I did the same a few years ago. Got bored and bought a unicycle. It currently has a flat tyre and lives under the stairs! Hurt my shins too much - mind the spinny shin whacking pedals!!! Give www.juggling.tv a look, or oddballs.co.uk

  12. I guess it could be a wing that has been won in a comp, bought on ebay etc. (similar to the T2T ones - where the company sponsors taken off them?). It might not have been an advertising stunt. Personally, I had a look around on google and based simply on the logo and palm name (there was no web address) it would have been a poor advertising attempt.

However, if he didn't have clearance to fly and was at a dodgy altitude - the only advertising it gives is bad - for us! Although reading various glasto blogs the crowds seem to have been in favour of the pilot and where cheering him on...this of course only until he stalled, fell onto the tent roof, slid down and diced a few people in the crowd up... (that bit didn't happen obviously...)

Surely somebody knows who flys that wing - it's pretty unique?!?

Out of interest, it's amazing how many members of the public refer to the paramotor as either a light aircraft, paraglider, microlight etc. etc.
