  1. You are correct about that regarding the A and B. BUt I am wondering if anyone knows why they make two different cylinder/head setups and if there are any known issues with the older one with the groove of the gasket in the cylinder as opposed to the head.
  2. Does anyone know why the simonini mini 2 plus motor has 2 different types of cylinders (One stamped with an "A" the other stamped with a "B"? From what I can tell the only difference is one has the head gasket groove in the top of the cylinder (which I believe this is the older version and also stamped with an "A" and the other has the head gasket groove in the head instead of the cylinder and the cylinder is stamped with a "B". I am curious to know if anyone knows of any known issues with either of the two cylinders and why their would be two different combo's for the same motor.
  3. I have a simonini mini 2 plus motor with a bing 84 carb and my motor appears to be running hot. I have a 155 main jet in my carb and I am wondering what main jet others have with a similar setup and I increasing the size one notch (160) will help bring my temps down. Any input would be appreciated. I have cleaned my head and piston and actually just ordered a new cylinder and piston setup.
  4. Thats a great article pete_b, i really appreciate it. My brother has teh exact same unit and he hasnt had any problems with the highest octane gas we can find. I order a head temp guage so i will see what i am running at. Maybe i will contact Simonini also.
  5. Pete_B - i havent changed out my spark plug which is one thing i intend to do . The problem is it runs great with exception to my problem. But i will do this. Dariuszk24 - This is good to know, but i dont have a tachometer on my unit. I am considering purchasing a cylinder head temp gauge to see if my unti is really running hot or not... I appreciate all of your feed back.
  6. It doesnt smoke anything out of the normal and i also pulled my exhaust off and peeked at the piston from the exhaust port. There is carbon but it appears to be normal from my opinion, but then again i am not a mechanic... What oil mixture should this be running on 32:1? Also i only have about 30 hours on the motor. When you say de-coked it, i assume you mean pulled the cylinder head off and cleaned the carbon off? that has never been done.
  7. I have a simonini mini 2 motor with bing 84 carb that starts / runs great. Probably has about 40hrs on it. My only problem is after i have been flying for about 25-45 minutes when i land and my motor goes down to its normal idle my kill switch doesn't work and it takes what seems to be about 20-30 seconds before the motor shuts down. I have changed out my kill switch button thinking this was the problem but still have the problem. I have tested my kill switch while flying and the motor does react to shut down while i have some throttle on in the air. The problem seems to be after a period of flying, after i just land and motor drops to normal idle (it doesn't shut down for about 20-30 seconds). It seems as if i am pushing the kill button and nothing happens until this period of time... I have no problems shutting it down any other time. I use Amsoil for my oil at 36:1 mix ratio, my spark plug shows normal coloration on it and i have cleaned my carb. I don't know if this is an overheating problem or electrical problem. If anyone could help or has experienced a similar issue it would be greatly appreciated.
