  1. ah, so basically as long as I never try anything to flashy or avoid bad weather conditions it is likely to never happen?
  2. I think it would be fun to fly really high then cut of the motor and glide down to landing. How fast does a paraglider tend to descend with out much manipulation of the wing? Say if you were to do it at 5,000 feet. About how long would the ride be down.
  3. Ive come to understand that a collapse is probably the worst situation you can get in while flying and I am wondering how it happens and how to prevent it.
  4. I was more speaking of if some one had a seizure or some sort of black out at reasonable high altitude like 1000 feet. Would the paraglider just keep going straight or does it need constant control to stay stable? A little irrelevant but I have an irrational fear of something like this happening to an airplane pilot and then they crash into my house
  5. I was looking at how long wings last and what I was getting is 300-500 hours or 4 years with regular usage. I find that very upsetting considering how hard money comes by for me. Is there any kind of uv resistant spray that could be used to extend the life span?

I found out about these yesterday. I am going to try and get some training and build my self a home and for others. calearth.org can download a ebook on this subject manner here http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/6950403
  7. What would you think would be the likely out come if somebody for what ever reason went unconscious at an high altitude?
  8. hmm I think a hang glider looks more fun to fly but for convenience a paraglider wins for me.
  9. In this thread id like for people to compare and contrast the two. Such as which is easier, which is safer and so forth
  10. I live 20 miles north of Philadelphia. And yes, all my final decisions will be heavily influenced by an instructor. But I like to gain a collective knowledge by reading and asking a lot of questions for comparison and contrast first. I like to make sure with things that could be life threatening.
  11. So me being 145lbs id get a medium sized wing? Im not looking for thrill riding but just cruising. no tricks, no speedy stuff. just simple
  12. Is it a good idea or no. I am very set on getting one but with my current job I only pull in about $150.00 a week so it will be a while before I can actually get one. I am not really concerned about cosmetics but just functionality. What kind of things should I look out for? And about how much can I get a used paramotor and wing together for?
  13. I do not mean thew emotional aspect but quite literally. Is is shaky or vibrate strongly? Is it very loud? Is it windy? Stuff like that.
  14. I noticed that wings vary in size and I am wondering why. What would a larger wing be suitable for vs. a smaller wing? Weather conditions, weight, speed, maneuverability?
  15. Thank you everyone. When I read the regulations on flying these things, I got a huge smile on my face because I realized how free this sport is. Can some one point me to some good videos? I downloaded a whole bunch of videos but they turned out to all be unpowered paragliding videos, which looks fun too but not as fun,
  16. I just found out about paramotoring and it has become my priority. It will take some money saving but I feel it will be worth it. But I do not know anything that I need to know about purchasing a wing and motor. Could some one help me out.
