  1. Hi Steve,

    How are you?

Jude will be taking on the dogs whilst I'm away. Gonna miss them though, but they don't like heat so it wouldn't be fair to take them.

Tried the Herc route, turns out that they have MORE red tape than anyone else. Would need to get it professionally packaged, de-gassed, millions of forms & it would only go on if they had space. It could sit in the UK for months!

I'm not taking a hacksaw to it! It will only pack down to a certain size. Tried stowing it on a removals truck, but they really weren't keen on taking it & decided to charge me loads for the priviledge.

Still if Parajet fancy sponsoring me a Zenith I might be able to promote it for them....

  2. Well this is rapidly turning into a PITA.

I am off to Cyprus to work for a couple of years & the Paramotor will be coming with me (well come on, who wouldn't?).

However getting it out there is proving to be a bit of a problem & I could really use some advice.

I could throw it in a car & drive out there (stopping off for a couple of flights along the way), however importing/keeping the car there is stupidly expensive & tied up in masses of Cypriot red tape, so that option isn't really workable. Getting a vehicle ferry to Cyprus isn't exactly easy either.

I could fly it out there, but excess baggage is extortionate. Still could be do able, maybe with some form of cheat/blag?

I could freight it out there but that's not exactly cheap either (quotes coming in £4-500 - I could virtually send a car out for that & it will take 2-3 months to get it out there). There are faster freighting options, but insured value of contents is £50!

Anyone know of any good shipping agents that could do it cheaper or are there any other options that I haven't thought about yet? Any advice would be appreciated before I end up pulling my hair out?

  3. As there isn't a regional club for Dorset I thought I would post this here instead.

Work has taken me to Blandford Forum for a couple of weeks (lucky old me!). As there is a bit of space in the car I thought I would bung my kit in as well, in the hope that the weather will break soon.

I'm just after ideas for flying sites, anyone flown locally? know any friendly farmers?

    Cheers

  4. I don't know if he's away or something, but I've never had anything but quick replies to any queries or problems from Clive.

I bought my Bulldog largely on customer service recommendations from other pilots, seems a bit strange to me that he wouldn't/hasn't replied at all?

Hope you get things sorted soon.

  5. I'm with Morgy. When I was learning I thought a gucci moving map would be the way to go, but most of these are expensive or have poor battery life or or hashed up from a PDA. I'm actually happier with a paper map & GPS, flying slowly at 1000 feet gives you a pretty good view & makes mapmreading really easy.

  6. I'm taking the caravan to bristol to get it fixed Thursday morning so if you're heading towards Wales & need a recovery driver I may be able to help.

That aside is anyone flying tomorrow? Looks like it could be a really good day for it. Have tried Barry but not having much luck getting through?

  7. I'm struggling to get consistently good results with any point & shoot camera (I've now tried 3) in anything except perfect conditions. l'm seriously thinking of trying my DSLR (for stills only) as it's much faster & more responsive but it's going to be a pain to use.

Keen to get any tips from those that have tried it.

My Gopro is fine for video.

  8. I am watching, with increasing excitement, the large high pressure system due to arrive this weekend.

That's got bring some flyable weather (if the rain holds off), so is anyone else thinking the same & looking to go flying??

  9. Hi all

Well I’ve decided to downsize my collection of camera equipment as I don’t use it enough to warrant keeping it. I’m looking to downgrade to a used Canon 450D or 500D to use with my Paramotor & now have the following for sale, all of which is in far too nice a condition to take flying:

Canon EOS 50D body. Looks like new & I would guess has not taken more than 2000 photo’s. Comes with box & 2 chargers (American type with UK adaptor plugs). £500.

Canon EF 28-70 F2.8L lens. If you didn’t know they haven’t made these for a few years you would believe it’s new. The shade has a few minor scuffs, but you have to look hard to see them! Comes with original hard case. £500.

Canon EF 50mm F1.8 Mark 1. The one with the metal mount. Like new. £120.

    B+W F-Pro 77mm Circular Polarising filter. Like new. £60.

    B+W F-Pro 77mm UV Haze filter. Like new. £40.

77mm Circular Polarising filter, unknown make (no markings). Looks like new though. £40.

    Hitec 85 ND filter set with ND 0.3, 0.6 & 0.9 filters. Filter housing & 67mm & 77mm lens adaptors. £50.

Giottos MML 3290B monopod. Never Used. £35.

2 Genuine Canon batteries for the 50D. £10 each.

1 Duracell battery battery for the 50D. £8.

5 Canon 540EZ Flash Guns, all with cases. 3 have a 2.5mm sync socket added for use with Pocket Wizards, 2 don’t. £55each, except for one (without sync socket mod) which looks like brand new & comes with original user manual & a diffuser & is £65. I also have 1 more diffuser which will go to the first buyer who requests it.

Canon battery pack E. Takes AA batteries & extends the battery life/reduces recycle times for the 540EZ. £20.

5 sets of 4 Eneloop rechargeable batteries, in cases. £5 per set.

4 Pocket Wizard Plus2 Transceivers. Pretty much like new. £75 each.

Tamrac Expedition 7x Camera bag. Awesome bit of kit. £80.

80x80cm Soft box. Comes in a bag. £50

2x Konig KN-LS 10 light stands. Each comes with Flash gun mount & umbrella. £20 each.

All the prices are inclusive of P&P. I am open to sensible offers on multiple items. If you’re local I’m happy for anyone to come & play/look so that you know exactly what you’re getting. If you’re further afield then I’m happy to e-mail photo’s upon request. I really have looked after this equipment & this is represented in the fantastic condition of it all.
