I've just had a customer that needed a Chimney stack inspected on a listed building (neighbours insist it has cracked..it's not!), it's inside the Heathrow zone so no chance to fly near it and being a listed building the tiles are about 200+ years old so no climbing on the roof. Quote for a scaffold gantry to bridge the area as it's an odd shape is about £2500.
So as a stop gap I'm filming it with one of these......

Lets hope they fix it asap, I have the last three copies of paramotormag to clear off my desk, I'm needing that fiver
I'll 'av' em!

Unbelievable, I can see the appeal, it must be a huge adrenalin rush.
What's the life expectancy of wingsuit flyers
Alan
About 10,000 feet!

Torture!
All the training was for reverse launches as it's been breezy, Tuesday..............
No wind, back to nursery getting forward launches sorted, wind did it's thermic thing and by the end of the day I was getting tired and a little hacked off with the bad luck of all.
But there is no fighting mother nature and Simon did offer to get down early on Wednesday but the wind was up from dawn, even offered to try again at the fly-in, but that's a social thing so it'll wait till next week.
Like pulling teeth this flying lark!

Having just trawled the net, I know it's easy to go for kit as it pops up!
That first kit was for a huge motor with huge non-reflex a tandem wing, useless to you (IMHO).
The RAD looked nice for the motor, but again not a reflex wing
Last ones not bad, but a well know owner will probably see some 'help' with the bidding.....

Weather has been playing a staring roll in training for the last week or so, but I've had another day (Wednasday) under the wing doing GH last week and the next one should be first flight....Made it into the Youtube PMC vid though!
[youtubevideo]
[/youtubevideo]Saturday (Yesterday) was the only day the weather was playing ball this week, I try to avoid the weekends as it's going to be busy, but with 4 instructors on site there was no problem getting help.
The day was a little more complicated by having my new (to me) wing arrive (Thanks Meds) and it handled a bit differently than the 26 I had been using. Also glad to see it fly, with no big hole and 'Ha HA Gotcha' written in marker pen on it! as per the advert it was clean and crispy. Forgot how much bugs like yellow though!
Also got the Clemente motor out and went through fueling etc (so close to the PAP80), for the short time it was running it fired up well and looks like another good buy.
By this time there had been a couple of first flights and the day was marching on, got the motor on and NOW I know why I spent the time nailing the GH! Took a while to get the harness sorted so it was just short of back breaking, having experience on hand to make simple adjustments was invaluable.
Sadly the wind was starting to pick up from the weather front coming in, though flyable we had just watched another Paramotor fly in from over the horizon, he did not land and was getting pushed all over the sky, gave us a low fly past and a wave and was off (if your reading this did you get back or have to land out?).
I did some RL's with the engine off and had it have been running I'd have been in the air, BUT not a nice flight and not what I want from a first flight.
Peering into my crystal ball (Iphone) Tuesday looks like a viable option, this time it's mid week and I can get out first thing with a familiar wing and motor.........watch this space!

VERY WELL DONE CLIVE!!
You made it look easy mate!
Andrew, Your day has been great also.. everything is gelling well now, you are as close as close can be without actually touching.
Stay happy
SW
There was no point pushing to launch when the weather was deteriorating, shame as it went quiet again just as we were leaving!
Next viable day I'll get down early and be set up first thing, Tuesday is looking good.

Managed my first flight today under the supervision and training of Pete B at Membury.
A few hairy moments and a bit of a rough landing but a brilliant experience,
a big thanks especially to Pete and everyone at the club who have provided wonderful
help and support througout my training.
Clive
Top Banana, Pete's got a 100% success rate, he's not left one up there yet!
Nearly got my first flight, but seeing as I was GH my new wing (Thanks Meds) and started my motor for the first time it was a progressive day.
As the wind started to get up (for a first flight) I did a GH reverse launch including throttle. Had the motor been running I'd have been off!

Lots of milk stops the burning.
I did the same thing once but with my eyes...
you put pineapple in your eyes
Must be some strange S&M
Thanks though, I no longer have a Plasma cutter secreted in my pants!
-
cover it in pineapple to stop the burning.
Might not work but will look really funny
whole or segmented
Stupid question!
Rings!

I'm nominating myself for a Darwin award!

Okay, having done one of THE most stupid things of my life about 10 mins ago, I thought I might as well put it to good use for your amusement!
I decided to make some insanity chilli with Scotch Bonnet and a Dorset Narga. Merrily I chopped all the chilli up and just before I sorted it into the pan and washed my hands the door bell rang.......
Stupid double glazing
So I went for a pi$$........... OUCH!!!!
Frankly I'm shocked my cock is not glowing like a light sabre!

Looks like the last of the good weather that weekend!
There is method in our madness
Will you need to see my insurance?

Yes I understand, I have to have the correct training and I have already had some ground handling tuition which i am hoping to build on before launching into the sky.
Neil
All looks so easy on Youtube!

I plan to come and I think Ian is too, not sure what day.
Having never been to a PPG 'shin-dig' what's the plan for the days or is it more tea and talk Parabollocks?

Neil
I have a proper free flying harness (medium Woody Valley) you can have for £ 125. That will protect your back and bottom more. And it gives you the option of flying some flights without the motor to begin with so you can practice a few easy landings
Dave
Good point, all my GH has been in a 'proper' harness
-
Now all I need is a ground handling harness and I am ready to start some practising.
Anyone have one going cheap?
Regards
Neil
Bailey do one for £50, but I'd be looking to get lessons ASAP, no point learning bad habits or dragging a wing around a field for no reason!
