  1. To give you some idea, I put mine on my digital fishing scales which I know are cock on but only go up to 30kg and it bottomed them out with a litre of fuel in. I got the feeling it was only just bottoming them out. I only did it out of curiosity not because I had any issue with the weight of it.

It’s my first motor so I’ve nothing to compare it to but I did try PeteB’s volution 1 once and it “feels” massively lighter. More than 3kg anyway and I’m chuffed with it.

I’m only 57kg soaking wet and I don’t find it overly heavy. I have only had 2 short flights with it though

  2. Too right I did. I’d have stayed up there till I ran out of fuel if mister Baldwin would have let me.

Worth all the pisstaking i know im going to get tomorrow for the panda eyes. Must remember suncream next time.

Or at least take my sunglasses off so im an even shade of red.

Hopefully a second flight each next time eh Clive

  3. Whichever way you look at it you’re going to have to travel a bit.

I'm in Walsall and train with pete_b at Membury. When I have the time that is :(

Your welcome to jump in with me when i next have a training day and see what its all about. I think you will be impressed.

    That’s if Pete doesn’t mind?

  4. Thanks Macey

It was a seam that they did and I thought 50 tonne was excessive!

Please do pm me the details of the guys you know. We did have a geotec guy last time but wasn’t impressed with him. I don’t really think he had our interests at heart.

    Thanks again

  5. Yeah sure.

The house is for my sister and it’s her money I’m playing with so would be good to speak to someone who has experience and make the right choice.

Not a responsibility I’m enjoying

Im having real trouble posting anything. I keep getting logged out soon as I try :?

    Driving me mad!

  6. I need a bit of advice if any of you lads know.

I’ve got a long and narrow building plot (7 meters wide) that I plan to build a detached house on.

Just got off the phone with the architect and he thinks we should consider using SIP’s to maximise internal floor space but couldn’t tell me much more about them as it would be the first time he’s worked with them :?:

I have seen them before but dismissed them as cheap flat pack houses but apparently they are not. The house is only 5.5m wide so extra space would be a bonus.

Also, we have just completed a bungalow barely 30m from this plot that I had to have some drilling and grouting done at a cost that would make your eyes water. I’m sure the powers that be will make me do it again but Mr Architect seems to think that maybe we can get away with the drilling if we use SIP’s. I really can’t see how.

He’s a good guy but I don’t want to be a guinea pig for him.

I’m pretty sure there are builders on here or maybe someone that has used them on a self build.

    Any advice or experience appreciated.

  7. Thanks lads

I’ll take your advice and hang fire on buying anything just yet.

This Pete fellow sounds like he could be handy for me. Does anybody have any contact details for him? If not I’ll try to find him on here when I have more time.

Jock – top man, I'm definitely interested in your offer. I’m working down Plymouth at the moment mostly Monday to Friday and some Saturdays. I imagine you lads go out whenever the weather permits but if it happens to be on a weekend the please give me a txt/call. I’ll be down there like a shot even if it’s just to have a chat and see what it’s all about. Never done any ppg whatsoever. I did a tandem skydive on holiday last year and thought the best bit I thought was the glide down and it got me thinking about this sport. I wanted second hand kit to start with because I was thinking it would be the sensible option – been watching a few videos on youtube of people smashing up their equipment. Plus my mates interested and I would just pass it on to him on the cheap if he wanted to get into it. New or really good second hand kit would be my aim once I know what I’m doing with it.

Jock, Dan – Thanks a lot. Up till now I have been finding it all a bit inaccessible for someone new so your advice is very much appreciated.

  8. Hello everyone.

I’m planning to book my training course very soon and I have been looking recently for some second hand gear to get me started and noticed this on Ebay. I only weigh about 57kg and would like to know if this is at all suitable.

    Motor - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Adventure-R2-Para ... 3a598dee97

    Wing - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silex-Paramotor-w ... 3a598e0787

I wouldn’t attempt to use it on my own till I’ve done my training and I wouldn’t be keeping It too long it’s just that I don’t want to lay out a great deal till I know I’m competent enough not to wreck it and it would be nice to have my own gear to get used to with an instructor.

I’m hoping to get my mate interested too who only weighs about half a stone more than me so I would probably be looking to pass it on to him once I’m sorted and got some better gear.

For my training I’m looking at http://www.flyingfishparamotor.com/trai ... ng-15.html because their not a million miles from me but if anyone has any recommendations then please feel free as it’s not booked yet.

I live in Walsall so I would need to travel a bit to fly which isn’t a problem as I have a van and this might seem like a daft question but is it just a case of asking a farmer if you can use his field or are their certain dedicated sites in the midlands. I used to work for a fella that used to go to look at jobs in a helicopter and he would just land in any field then ask the farmer afterwards if it’s okay but I don’t have that sort of brass neck.

    Thanks in advance
