  1. Dear Friends,

Apologies for the bombardment of emails, messages and Facebook posts. We are trying earnestly to reach as many of Deano's friends as possible to inform and give updates regarding the Deano Celebration Day on Saturday 1st August at the Hampshire Bowman pub & grounds.

If you are planning to attend, please click on the link below for the latest details.

    Regards,

    Lee Eldridge

  2. I was paragliding in St Hilaire France last week, & there was plenty of talk about this. It is illegal for paragliders to land on the top of Mont Blanc & although it appears the police/French CAA will not take any action on this occasion they have made it known they will prosecute anyone else who lands up there.

Shame it looks really cool (but well out of my flying ability)

  3. Anybody got any views on this?

Last week the APPI PPG website finally went live! Alex has been writing the syllabus for all PPG courses, from Beginner and Intermediate students right up to Tandem Pilots and Master Instructors. APPI PPG is the first international Paramotoring organisation and is similar to PADI for scuba diving in the sense that it is designed to bring everyone together under one roof. It is currently free to join and we can transfer any existing license or training over to an APPI PPG license. To do this please contact Alex.

  4. I had problems with erratic readings on a Brauniger vario. I found something on the web that suggested removing the batteries & shorting the terminals out, then replacing the batteries.

I did this & normal functionality was restored.

  5. I hope to be at Sherington (near Newport Pagnell at about 8:30 in the morning)

The field is on Cricheley Hill.

Note vehicles need to be parked just inside the gate to the field as the farmer does not allow vehicles to be driven across the field when it is waterlogged.

If anyone else has plans for the afternoon, let me know where you'll be.

  6. Hi Matt,

It is a little quiet in Northamptonshire. I fly in Sherington (near Newport Pagnell) & met up with Nigel in the autumn, flew up near Jn 15a.

Happy to have a chat with you... drop me a message & we can speak.

    Richard

  7. Any news on the Tank site or any other Northampton (or North Bucks) sites - I'm about to lose the site in Newport Pagnell (the farmer is going to crop the field) & I'm keen to locate an alternative site & also hook up with other flyers.

    Richard

  8. I have ~350 hours Group A, and have spent some time paragliding. I would echo the other comments, that the only real transferable elements are met, air law & general airmanship. Ground handling the wing is the key & fixed wing aviation will not help you much with that! I did a six day course at SkySchool & am now happy forward launching without assistance - still need to crack reverse launches though.
