Did my first flight on the snake 20 yesterday.

5% above the advised ptv range.

felt pretty good. nothing scary or ultra fast but really stable, felt like i was in control during the whole flight.

still had some lift after using the speedbar untrimmed (full power)

Did you really use speedbar with the trims in? Have you read the manual? You need to release trims to at least 6 before using speedbar.😦

  2. The warp is Amazing! I have yet to fly a wing that I enjoy more than this one. The handling when accelerated is so precise and fast but yet stable at the same time. Top speed for me was right at 50mph on a 16m with 112kg all up weight. I dont see how a slalom wing could get much better than this.

  3. New competition wing from Dudek. Im really excited to fly it. What I know so far is its sort of a mix between the Hadronxx and Snakexx. Its a 3 liner that has a dynamic profile that changes with speed bar and trims. I cant wait. In the picture I added it looks like the mini rods in the leading edge are sewn on the outside of the wing? Or does it just look that way? Hopefully more info and orders will come soon!

Thanks Mitchg really good to read your experience and im pretty convinced it would be a good next wing . what were nil wind take offs like with a 130cc ? and did you trim a 1/4 out for take off as well ? nice  dune skimming  vid :) thanks again

Yeah. After I got used to the wing I liked takeoffs and landings with the trims 1/4 out for the extra speed and the wing inflates faster with the trims out a little but still lifts you quickly with just a little brake pull. Lifted me off no problem with a 130cc even launching at 4000ft msl but I only weigh 150lbs. I say the wing is good for talented new pilots with at least 50 flights and it will take you all the way up to doing anything up to slalom racing and serious acro.

  5. I put about 100 hours on my ITV BIlly. Its a great intermediate wing. Easy launches and landings. It doesnt hang back on launch and has a nice flare. I flew mine mostly with the trims 1/4 of the way out for everything except for flying straight line long distance where I would trim all the way out.  Trims out it really picks up a lot of speed and is very stable no tendency to oscillate like slalom wings. Speed bar doesnt do much for the wing, maybe increase 2mph. Its not the most efficient when trimmed out, my ultimate 130cc motor needed almost full power to maintain altitude at full speed. Its also good for learning wing overs and basic steep turns but dont expect to be doing barrel rolls or really huge wing overs, it just doesnt carry energy that well and has lots of stability built in.

Couple of things i noticed here that i would like to comment on in my experi3nce both free flying and motoring...

    3. In terms of surging and twitchiness, i would suggest this is simply a matter of aspect ratio and also wing loading...certainly the higher the AR the more apparently unstable these things feel...ie canopy flexes more, they move around etc. Cetainly this lack of comfort is very pronounced when free flying high aspect ratio 2 liners.

The Hadronxx has a higher aspect ratio than the Freeride and my Hadron is 1m smaller but it much less twitchy than a freeride. Higher aspect ratio doesnt always mean one design will be more twitchy than another. I believe the Hadron is less twitchy because of the amount of reflex it has even with trims in. Where as the freeride gains more reflex as you trim out or speedbar, but with the tirms in, its closer to a freeflight wing (twitchy but efficient).

  7. I will have paid around 2000 for frame and harness after shipping. I wouldnt hesitate to buy from Jivko again. So far he has been great, answered all my questions. He doesnt read or write English very well so it sometimes takes him a day or two to reply to emails. Dana denny bought one from him and has nothing but good things to say about it. I test flew dana's virus and ordered one 2 days later. Just keep in mind Jivko is running a small shop so he might not have a warehouse full of parts ready to ship the second you order but his customer service has been great so far. Dana ordered some parts and got them 2 weeks later which IMO is good considering they were produced and shipped over seas.

The quality and engineering in the virus is well worth the wait and the money. Plus it comes out to be a lot cheaper than the "popular" brands and has a lot more features. I would say get one unless you are still in the learning phase and have hard landings because if you break something it might be a few weeks before you can get parts.

  8. I recently ordered a virus. Contact Jivko through his email to order one. I would recommend ordering the virus with the harness that Jivko sells so it comes with everything you need plus its a good harness. I chose to use a moster 185 plus, when you order the motor from your dealer also tell them you need motor mounts, prop, ect. For a throttle I ordered a polini.

  9. I test flew a 19m freeride at 100kg all up. I found that it does like to oscillate a bit. If you hit a little bubble of air that makes you turn or you make a turn, then you have to dampen the wing out to get it to fly straight again especially if you are on speedbar (most of the speed range).

The good side of the freeride is it launches and lands like a dream. Tons of lift when you are deep in the brakes on landing.

The bad side is it oscillates and almost always requires piloting unless the air is butter smooth. And the wing is very twitchy in turbulence pitching fore, aft, and yawing. Just to give a comparison my hadron xx 18m moves around about half as much in the same conditions which is much more confidence inspiring.
