  1. Simon apologies if wrong place please move

    Parajet paramotor

55kg thrust one so you can work out which one it is....

with acrobat wing 28 I think, good for me at 12 stone, serviced by the loft about 2 and a half years ago and stayed in box since!

Ive had it all about 4 years , kept in the warm and dry. Bought it off a guy that sent to Gilo to be checked over first before selling it. I think he had done maybe 30/50 hrs on it.

£2500 ono will get you flying!

  2. If you were synical then,

You could argue that self declared instructor/examiners, teaching want to be instructors will subsequently seek regulation to justify their expense/advantage.

Result is end of the last bastion of freedom of a very simple form of powered flying and more expense for all the sensible folk out there and no effect on the loons who will carry on regardless.

I understand your commercial attitude but fail to follow the 'moral', (if that is the right word) attitude.

On what basis (apart from good business) is this deemed to be necessary / desirable?

I would agree that a sport is best off being self regulating, If it needs to be changed from its present form. as is the BGA (British Gliding association) but would also say that since Europe (EASA) has been involved with gliding the costs have literally soared (pun intended) and with absolutely no safety reason on which to justify the expense, it is just for beaurocracy.

    Leave it as it is

(its at this point I might of said 'keeping my tongue out' however I fear i might bite it off, so shall keep it in!)

  4. Seems like there two camps here

    camp one

who 'just do it' and enjoy all there is to enjoy about the freedom

    camp two

who have a commercial interest to see some recognized rating structure to help further their business interests.A menu for customers to spend money.

Nothing wrong with either I suppose

don't like legislation though, as usually leads to abuse by unelected officials, take the EU for example.......

my soap box has just collapsed as its made to eu standards

    :(

  5. Hi Folks

Some good points here in this thread

I have zero paramotor experience (about to change :-) ) but I do have experience in aviation.

You should also be looking at Easa not just the CAA and see what they are likely to do/want/threaten as most control is with them now (witness the battle that is going on with the UK's IMC(instrument meteological conditions) rating for private pilots)

its looking like a lot of people might lose a rating that has been earned

Continental Europe enjoys different weather patterns and have managed without such a rating. so now we have the situation of Greeks,Germans the French etc. (no offense meant, but it is true) dictating (well ok they vote but it feels like dictating!!!) how we should cope with our weather!!!

    anyway back to this thread

As more people get involved in this sport more accidents will occur, fact.

Then comes regulation, possibly knee jerk type, (Dumblane, etc.)

So I guess there is no choice, However gliding has managed pretty well though, so its not all doom and gloom.

In the meantime enjoy the utopia :-)

    and fly safely

    J

ps happy to be proved wrong

edit... just read a lot more of the later posts and i like the follow the glider route
