  1. You really can't go wrong with Alan at Hull Aero. He is a fantastic guy, very helpful and extremely knowledgeable. He and his colleague, Paul Martin have 7 sites all over Yorkshire (including Hull, York and Huddersfield) plus a very active club. The most impressive facilities are at Leven, were the British Open championships have been held over the past few years. I would recommend him to anyone in Yorkshire interested in Paramotoring.

  2. Has anyone flown the Nucleon XX. The original Nuceon and the WRC were/are great wings but I like the addition of the sharknose on the Nucleon range.

I would be very interested to hear comparisons between the WRC and the XX if anyone has flown both.

  3. I had a chat with Emilia Plak and for what I undrstood there were no plans anytime soon for that because the Roadster 2 is as fast as the speedster is but with a much better glide.

If true it would suggest that the Roadster 2 is a defacto replacement for the Speedster. After all, why would anyone buy a Speedster if the Roadster 2 was as fast as, more efficient than (glide ratio) and safer than (ENB vs ENC) the Speedster?

Having said that, if the sharknose and other technologies can make a beginner wing as fast as, and in some respects, better than an intermediate/advanced wing, as claimed, then it would be crazy not to apply the same technologies to the Speedster. Wouldn't that make the Speedster pretty much unbeatable?

Does anyone, not connected with Ozone, have independent data to confirm this speed and glide claim?

  4. What's the date?

Here's what they say on the Parafest Facebook page:

"Set in the beautiful surroundings of North Wales this summer - Parafest 2015.

The UK's first festival of flight dedicated to paragliding and paramotors.

Market area, demo's and displays, fun comps and entertainment for all.

Paragliding and paramotoring for suitably skilled and insured pilots.

Camp and showground all within the bottom landing fields of the popular free flying site Llangollen, North Wales, June 12-14.

Downhill mountain bike track also available for use with regular uplifts for bikes and pilots.

On site bar, live music Friday and Saturday nights in the marquee and all weekend camping.

Website with full details January 2015"

  5. No-one knows the answer to your question.

    However,

Most sold in UK in past 5 years is probably Parajet.

Most highly rated by owners in survey was Miniplane.

Most common at recent fly-ins I've been to (Wacky Winglands, GNFI) was Bulldog.

I suspect that my input here was probably no help at all.

  6. I get your point and something I have shared.

No manual pilots complain, finally get a manual and still complaining.

No Vince. As you said earlier, it's not ready yet. Therefore: no manual, pilots have a right to complain. Manual still not ready after 2 years, pilots still have a right to complain.

You're one of the most professional people in the industry. Don't be dragged down by Paramania's lack of professionalism.

  7. I bought a new AXB Hawk from my instructor when I completed my training. Worst bit of kit I've ever seen in my life. I had an engine out on every flight. It went back to the dealer several times and each time it came back worse. I became afraid to fly away from the take-off field. It eventually came to the point where I dreaded flying it at all. After the 6th engine out I sent it back to the dealer for good. This was 3 years ago. I'm still waiting for a refund.

One engine out is manageable, but when it happens every time and you're a novice pilot, it can really shake your confidence for years to come.

I now have an Air Conception Titanium Ultra 130, which is an awesome machine and significantly better in every conceivable way. I'm now in the process of learning to go XC without worrying about being dumped out of the sky.

  8. If you want light weight and don't need mega thrust then the Miniplane is fantastic at 18-19kg (weight depends on whether you have weight-shift bars or not).

If you need light weight and more thrust, I would suggest the Air Conception with the 130cc motor which is between 18.5kg for the lightest model and 22kg for the heaviest (which includes weight-shift bars, clutch and electric start).

If you need even more thrust then you could look at the Air Conception with the Moster (180cc) engine which comes it at just under 23kg.

    Hope this helps.

  9. I know 4 others here that fly with the Dickies suit.

Do you guys have any issues with the zip? Just that I also have a Ski Coat and fly with that as its warmer than my flight suit but the zip keeps sliding down from the neck which is a massive pain in the ass.

If these zips stay fastened then im definitely going to be ordering one. Then again I suppose I could just buy a scarf :D

I've never had an issue with the zip (or with any part of the suit).

    Hope this helps.

  10. 1/3 of the price of a flight suit is even better :

Proving the point that if you put the word "flying/aviation/etc" in the description you triple the cost

I have some Aviation £10 notes for sale. Good value at only £30 each.

  11. I have an Apco and personally find it ok to launch in nil wind. However, two very experienced pilot friends have found my wing very difficult to launch in light winds. One flies a Paramania GTX (he had a Revo 2 before) and the other an Ozone Roadster. The GTX, Revo 2 and Roadster all come up like a dream compared to the Apco, as does the WRC and Speedster.

    Hope this helps.
