I love my ipad with the airnav pro app installed. Make sure your ipad is gps enabled. You can download the latest 1:500,000 or 1:250,000 charts for it.

Thanks Simon. Tickets booked!

Hi all,
Is there a good place to go to check out all of the latest offerings from manufacturers in one place?
Cheers,
Dave

Hi Rob,
I've had a V5 for 4 years. It's the only machine I've owned, so I can't really give you any kind of comparison.
For the most part, I have been happy with it. It has never let me down in flight, has always started easily. It has plenty of power, it's easy to assemble and disassemble. It's comfortable and has great fuel economy. (Oh, and you don't have to mix your fuel).
The only down side is that it has had a persistent oil loss problem that Bailey have not been able to fix after 5 trips back to their workshop. I have heard of other owners with the same issue, but I'm assuming that after 4 years, Bailey's new machines probably don't have this tendency.
Happy flying!

....update....there is now an answerphone message!
-
Further update on this to put anyone's fears to rest regarding Baileys support they have now employed Paul Mahony as Office Manager. Paul is a Paramotor instructor and extremely helpful. I had a replacement cage quarter delivered in a few days of ordering it.
Yes, I have met and spoken to Paul M, who seems like a very nice and helpful chap.
Unfortunately, he too now seems to be unavailable!!
I sent an email 6 days ago - no reply. Then another yesterday morning - no reply again. The phone is on a system whereby it rings a few times, then puts me on hold but is never answered.
Perhaps he's on holiday, or off sick, but it's very easy to set an 'out of office' email responder and an answer phone message.
It's really frustrating being grounded for weeks without any clue as to when I might expect my motor back.

Ok, here's one from my flight across Spain.
-
Ah, happy memories! My first aerial experiences were over Halfpenny Green as a skydiver in the late 80's! Great that they welcomed you!
-
I was flying along yesterday and shortly before landing, it occurred to me that I have never once checked my leg straps before shifting out of my seat.....so this time I did....only to find one of them undone! I know it's only a lucky coincidence that I had that thought at exactly the right time, but it's strange none the less!

Anyone have one for sale?
-
I have spent many hours crossing various seas in microlights. I had a few things that made me feel less nervous:
Radio.
Locator beacon,
Immersion suit. (you're welcome to borrow mine if you want)
Life raft. (bit heavy maybe!)
Life Jacket.
I too would love to cross the channel by paramotor. Feel free to flame me, but I wouldn't worry too much about the legalities. You have no registration letters but, if you want to be semi-legal, you can file a flight plan with a made up call sign (like 'paramotor1'). Call London information and tell them you're flying from a private field near X and landing at a private field near Y. Stay away from airfields and restricted airspace and nobody is going to bother you. Sure, you might technically be breaking the law, as you do when you go over 70 in your car, but here's the thing I've always found in over 20 years of flying - You can sum it up in a few words - Don't build your part up! - You're a dot in the sky. Nobody really gives a shit about you or what you are doing. Sure, if we all crossed the channel tomorrow, we'd kick up a stink, but hardly anyone does it, so who is going to care? You will probably land in a field near a petrol station, fill your tank and fly back to Kent with nobody any the wiser.
In my experience, on a nice day, there are plenty of sailing boats and cruisers that you could land near to in an emergency.
Good luck! Hope you go for it!

As the starter of this thread, and having just logged in after a long time and found to my surprise that it's still running, I thought I ought to chime in.
Although I had the frustrating experience of not being able to contact them in the run up to my flight across Spain, I'm happy to report that on a couple of occasions after my return, I have had great customer service from Paul and co. Quick responses to emails and quick solutions to a couple of minor issues with my V5.
I understand what others have said about going to a dealer, but I bought my machine direct from Bailey so there are no dealers out there that owe me any service.
Still very pleased with my V5.
Cheers,
Dave

Hi
Oxford is not on route but you can drop it down to us... PO20 7JJ
Hi Mark,
Could you email me on info( at symbol )david-goode.com. I might take you up on the offer.
Cheers,
Dave

What I really wanted to know first is whether this work could be done by a local motorcycle garage. I don't really want to have to leave my motor at Bailey for an unspecified period of time and then not be able to contact them.

Where are you based Goode..
I am going up on Thrusday.. I could take it with me..
Regards
Mark
That's a very generous offer Mark. Not sure if Oxford is anywhere near your route though...

Anyone got a medium sized Bailey V5 harness (old style with Bailey logos) and want to sell it or swap it for a large one?
