  1. I had an exhaust spring come off & hit my prop on my Polini 110 Thor engine at about 50 Hours.

Turns out the root cause was that one of the exhaust springs had sawn through the bracket:

Keep an eye on your bracket if you have one of these engines, or consider feeding retaining wire through the springs in case one of them does break free.

I was lucky not to add a sunroof to my wing

  2. Hi Mark, great to meet you at the Marston Fly-In on Sunday.

I am the guy with the Bulldog Paramotor with the modified prop - the one with 3 inches missing from both ends  . Me & my flying buddy (also called Mark) are planning on getting there on the Saturday night if that is ok. The Google Streetview is just incredible. I'll make sure I have a spare prop with me!

    Cheers, John (from Binley Woods)

  3. Hi Tim,

nil wind forward launches are tough. Definitely practice with 3mph or so, it's so much easier on the legs until you get the hang of it. You can see from Clive's video above that he took two small steps backwards because he was pulling up into a head wind.

Dan taught us to run at it rather than just one step back too. One thing that you might want try if your wing is always coming up left side first is to start slightly left of centre to encourage the right side up a bit. Not too much though as it's a bit of a fudge.

I attempted a nil wind forward in Cornwall last week and had to give up after 6 attempts as my site was slightly up hill with a dip in the middle. But then again, I'm not very good.... Keep at it mate.

Cheers, John (from Binley Woods)
