wallboy
I see nobody had posted in this section for 2 months so fingers crossed. Has anyone used a Baofeng radio with Micro Avionics headset? if so what luck have you had? I am using the Baofeng UV-B5 but sometimes have transmission trouble on the field where it either wont transmit or the button on the ear cup wont work so I have to press the PTT button on the radio but then I don't get Sidetone. The dip switches are set up correct and I have tried them on a few settings but surprise surprise they always work without fail when I get home. Very interested to know who else uses Baofeng radios. alan_k
I've got the Baofeng miniature radio but use an old Icom 2M radio when flying. Always difficult to diagnose at a distance but check the plugs are fully home, leads haven't got an intermittent break, presence of gremlins (joke). It's usual that it all works at home With the miniaturisation of the radios it could be that the pcb socket has a loose connection or dry joint, particularly if the plug exit puts any strain on the socket. If you are still stuck in December I can take a look at it in the Dudley area. Cheers, Alan

When I was flying alone I did put a call out on 2M calling frequency and was speaking to a guy 36 miles away so I know they do work but it always seems to happen when 2 of us are going to go flying which is very strange. Maybe I could try another model of radios and see if the problem still exists.
nforster
when i contacted microavionics they said the baofeng were not compatible and they dont do an adapter. i bought a small alinco dual band and that can be set up for pmr and 2m. martinpa
Microavionics told me that they don't do an adapter, so made my own up using the following circuit and made a connector box to house it in.
martinpa
Pic of casing for circuit. I have found that on the ground the radios work fine, but in the air I think the engine noise reduces usability, so have to come off the throttle.
