notch
After doing SIV, and testing my reserve... Buy a BIG reserve. 5.5m/s is VERY fast, and designed to save your life, but not your back and bones etc
ptwizz
As with other safety gear, tell us what crash you're going to have and then we can make recommendations. What would be the benefit of a small reserve to a relatively new pilot? Go for a big one. If you can mount it on your lap with a double handle (where you can see it and reach it more easily), why wouldn't you? As you gain experience and confidence, you may decide that your reserve is too much weight, or that a front mount doesn't leave room for instruments, lunch, etc. Until then, I would suggest that you err on the side of caution. custom-vince
I have been very pleased with the independence range regarding size packed vs decent rate vs price. It's not a plug but have a look at the decent rate chart on my website it gives you an idea of what 5.5m/s feels like compared to 4.5m/s 3rd box down on the left. http://www.custom-air.co.uk/Custom_Air_ ... ories.html
