Arse :-( clive Bunce ?

Sent from my iPhone using PMC Forum mobile app

Tried him too but no luck lol

I have tried:

*Parajet

*Bulldog (Clive Bunce)

*Custom Air

*Para Shop

*UKPPG but waiting to hear back and

Couldn't get hold of Paul Haxby (AXB).

Even through the motor is from AXB he probably won't have any parts in stock as I have found out a few times previously which is a little strange.

I fitted the pull start to the motor today and the teeth just about gripped the engine and turned it. After about 3 pulls it don't engage the engine so it wont turn it over which is even more annoying.

If you are really stuck it might be worth talking to these people.

They actually repair stuff! Not just replace, so if it's a windings or commutator issue they may be able to help. If it's the Bendix assembly they are available separately I think but I can only see them in the states and at what looks like a lot of money.

It's certainly an issue as you can read from this tale of woe

Think I might contact Burghfield and see what they can do.

Everything looks good with the motor apart from the Brushes which I broke when putting it back together. I am hoping its just the brushes which now need replacing.

I have no experience with these, but from the video on Youtube of the guy replacing the Bendix, your one looks Ok, so maybe Burghfield will be able to help if just needs brushes. They were both reasonable and cheap when I've used them, not that it was a paramotor starter.

Good Luck.

That sounds good, nice to hear a positive feedback first before I contact them. I would guess its just the brushes which need replacing.

If and when I get it working again I will then have to work out why it wasn't catching the engine to turn it over.

I wish I saw that video before taking mine apart :x What an idiot I am lol

Hi

if there was a build up of gunk and grime on the bendix shaft stopping the bendix gear getting thrown far enough to catch the starter ring that could be (been ) your problem. Low battery could do the same but assuming you had a good battery.

hope it helps

Battery is fully charged and working perfect and the photo's above is how it looked when taken apart so its all very clean, I have not had to clean any of it :)

I am currently enquiring about a starter motor for an AM6 Engine, they are floating around on eBay around the £30 mark.

As you can see from the image they are very similar but I am a little puzzled that the Fiem has a spring on the bendix but the other doesn't. Really hope its the same, even if it only lasts half as long as a heavy duty one.

I have a main body and the magnets and central spiny thing if you end up needing that. But cant find my spare brushes :-(

SW :D

What magnets? lol

I have got a price for the complete unit ready to bolt on to the engine from someone for £152 and UK PPG £183.

Just received an email from Vittorazi:

The price for the complete starter for the Easy100 is Euro 69.00

Shipment costs to UK is Euro 20.00.

To the above prices 22% of VAT is not included.

€108.58 = £90.80 (approx) :)

Where did you go in the end? Always useful to know.

I went to D&R Starters in Wolverhampton.

http://www.dandrstarterswolverhampton.co.uk/

The guy was very helpful and even took the time and explained what each piece in a starter motor does. I could have probably ordered any small bushes off eBay and grinded them down but I can't solder for s**t so it was worth the half day out and £20 in fuel :D

  • 5 years later...

Just to add my experience.  I recently had the same problem and bought the AM6 starter motor.  It does not fit, different mounting holes.  Also internals are different so cant incherchange parts.  Cleaned up bendix and also got a bigger battery as heard that the Shimo 1.9 AH does not have the guts to spin for more than a few single crank overs.
