mike1714
Well, I thought its been so quiet on the Kent front here I'd drop a line. A few of us fly out of Pedham Place Golf @ J3 M25........... on and off. Today was bloooody cold but a flight had to be had!! Vitaly and myself set up and took off. I only lasted just under an hour and Vitaly did just over an hour. Usually I pack my kit up this time of year and wait for spring next year. This year I am going to fly through winter - if possible?! Taking off and flying in snow would be interesting?....any tips out there? My hands as usual ..............more to the point - my finger tips froze!!!!!!! My suit held up well. Still has to be the ultimate 'buzz' sport!!! Till the next flight. Mike
Guest
Happy days Winter flying is ace! Look at heated kit, jacket would be the first IMO. then gloves / innters. Then... Winter? what winter? As far as snow on the ground and flying..... always worth a pre walk of your take off run, get your motor to push a little more, so less traction is required from your feet, nice big strides to minimise take off run and then enjoy I love flying (when there is snow on the ground) as apposed to in the snow, when its snowing of course! mike1714
Cool thanks Simon. Cheers for the tips. After seeing some of Paul Haxby photos of winter from above it has inspired me. Mike
irm750
Well it's been absolutely ages since I've been on here, so I hope everyone's ok? Glad to hear that you're still flying Mike and that you're going to brave it through the winter. Some of my best flights have been in the colder months. Did you get out over todays snow? Best regards, Ian.
