Niscars
After a failed forward launch which ended in a barbed wire fence, I have broken one of the bottom mounts for the flexible cage (amongst other things!). Does anyone have any experience of this please. Can it be welded or will it need the whole bottom bar replaced, or even a whole new frame I would be grateful for some advice please on the best repair option. Thanks, Oscar

christian
Bad luck Niicars. There's a Yahoo group for Miniplane owners. It's a good place to start for any questions on repairs or maintenance and you will usually get a very quick response. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/miniplane-owners/ Christian
alan_k
Looks like an easy weld for a competent welder. I have had similar damage fixed on my frame by a local welder. Cheers, Alan
Niscars
Thanks very much guys - I was hoping that would be the case. Alan - I typed 'welder' into Pages Jaunes and I get Plumbers. Is that how you did it or is it a job for a specialist welder? Oscar
alan_k
I'm lucky because the welder in Argenton sur Creuse is a specialist. He welds all metals for the aeronautical trade, the last time I was in his workbench had lots of aluminium assemblies for helicopters on it.
