Chaps,

What spark plugs are most of you using? Standard or Iridium?

I had trouble getting my PAP TOP80 running smoothly today. It would start then immediatly stop. After changing the plug (with a new standard plug) it seemed to cure it. I then had a flight of over an hour with no problems. After landing, I tried to starting it again and couldn't get it to keep running. After checking the fuel etc, I then put a old Iridium plug in (that I was given with the motor and it now runs fine. Ordered a new Iridium plug as a spare.

How often do you change your plugs and which have you found best.?

I had a pap top 80 with 250 hours on the standard plug so you got something wrong or a bad plug.

Watch this space for a photograph from 'Tree hopper' AKA Jamie.

He has identified a problem where the plug cap inner clips, are cutting / burning through the tip of the plug and cutting it off.

The problem was ID'd before the plug cap came off in flight but they need changing every 25 hours ( or in his case, a different plug cap)
