Lee Jackson
Forgive the daft question... Using a full size wing, what is the upper limit of wind speed/gusting us trainees should be aware of when ground handling? (i.e. 15mph wind gusting to 20mph is just about OK but anything above is too dangerous - guessing here).
gordon_dunn
Typically you wont be flying in anything above 10mph.... so no point doing any wing work above 10mph.... Gusting 20!!!! could be dangerous.....
pete_b
10 mph max to start with wear a helmet nothing downwind if you get dragged. Fly the wing holding the risers only first, if it starts to lift or drag you you can let go if necessary. If you are clipped in and get dragged just grab a set of lines on one side and keep pulling them in, when you are back at your car give yourself a good telling off and don't do it again
Farmer_Dave
@ PETE B love it. "when you get back to your car, give yourself a good telling off and don't do it again" Did that alot years ago. It's called a steep learning curve!
