rob999
As a complete newbie, I realise this hobby is very weather dependant. What I'd like to know is how often over the last 3 months have you flown?? I appreciate 'high summer' is not a good time of year to fly, but I'm trying to work out how often you can realistically fly.. Are the three other seasons that much better to fly in? Thanks.... Richwill15
this is a typical question. Indeed I asked it myself a year ago. The answer is never enough. the first time you return to terra-firma, you just want to get aloft again. Yes it's weather dependent but so many activities are. Realistically low air time pilots have to fly with safety in mind and build confidence before taking on more extremes of weather. But realistically, you can fly in the UK year round. It really just depends on what good old weather gods throw in our direction. Lots of folks go for early morning and evening flights when the air is at its nicest. The more air time you build the more conditions you'll understand and the more in your own capabilities you'll trust. After all. You will be the Pilot in Command. I know this won't answer your question but if you're looking for a "we fly every day of the year" then it'll be hog-wash. The key for me is to know that if the weather is right I can get into the sky with very few people and just enjoy.
alan_k
I do sometimes miss an opportunity when the wind drops an hour before sunset ( and I've already had a beer). I've flown 10 flights in May, 5 in June, 5 in July and 4 so far this month. Fewer than last year Cheers, Alan

s1buell_wl
I'm in Brazil and blessed with good weather here. I could fly 2-3 times a week and even more if I flew at night on the beach but between work and other things I still manage to fly once or twice a week. alan_k
It's been very hot over here for the past couple of weeks but this morning was a lot cooler, so up the field to get airborne There was a fair headwind but the air was lovely and COOL. Had 36 minutes in the air before it was starting to get thermic: Cheers, Alan

I love going up in the nice thermic conditions, but on the cost I need to watch it the thermic activity can be broken bullet type, makes the ass go tight Morning termals are normally nice.
