Does anyone fly wit an Ipad ??

I've been flying for 7 months now and was looking in to getting a GPS after looking at various models and companies i think they all look too small.

The Ipad is not a lot bigger than the front container and if secured right i think it would be excellent.

Does anyone have any thoughts ?

A visiting pilot at our field had an iPad as a gps using memory map, he had it in a leather type case with a neck strap. Looked like a good solution for gps, good battery too.

I Got a "military case" for my iPhone so I could use it as a gps they do the same case for the iPad

That case looks really good !

Not to sure about the neck strap tho TBH but im sure i could think of a better way of securing it.

I've tried using GPS MotionX on my Iphone but the screens is too small and awkward to use.

Alot better than memory map and has some cool features like Buddy Beacon so you can see where your mates are flying. Parajet used it while on their Electric Flight a couple of years ago and worked great!!

The GA crowd rave about SkyDemon, which has just been imported to ipad (something the developer said he'd never do...)

You can get a taste for it with SkyDemon lite http://www.skydemonlight.com/ Great for planning as its realtime NOTAM

Not sure about having an ipad round my neck tho
