Steve
I bought an alternative to the mainstream tachs like the Tiny Tach from ebay last September. It's been on the paramotor for a while and seems fine. The hours recorded are accurate and it only cost £11 including shipping. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI. ... alan_k
Good find! Always thought the tiny tach was a bit overpriced. Presumably this unit is not waterproof around the edge of the display bezel. Maybe a thin bead of silicon around the edge would sort this? Cheers, Alan
Steve
It isn't waterproof but, like you say, it's an easy fix (not done it myself yet).

Badger
Hi Stevie I followed your great link and got hold of the Cheapo tach, all arrived really promptly this morning and am really impressed with it so far, although I haven't fitted to the motor as yet, but I think that should be pretty simple, just one thing though, I haven't managed to be able to turn mine off yet, and the instructions don't mention it at all, does it go off automatically ? I have been watching it all day and still nothing! Adam
Steve
Hi Adam, There's no off button, just leave it. I'm still impressed with mine (especially for the money).
stuartasutherland
Mine came this morning too. The cable is not too strong so I will probably have to tape it or zip tie it to the HT lead. You Guys find the same? Is it okay to cut the wire down to an appropriate length? Cheers Stu
Steve
Mine is thoroughly taped to the HT lead. After it was taped on I trimmed off the excess (of which there is loads!). These are designed for snowmobiles, motorbikes, etc. so they are plenty generous with it.
