s1buell_wl
But looking at heat generation I can see solar farms generating thermals. 1. A black surface absorbs the light converting it to heat. The darker the better conversion rate. 2. A mirror or white surface reflects the light quite well and does not generate heat (while line on road) I'm guessing the solar farm units will generate some heat but not as much as a drark surface. I think it also depends on the panel Dark type (could generate more heat) Mirror type (less heat) maybe less then dark land forms Wow Great to see we are finding clean power! Hard to say what it would be like to fly over one. Anyone here done this? T
ptwizz
I would treat a solar farm on the scale shown in those pictures as a built up area and avoid it anyway. I wouldn't fancy an emergency landing in one. The second picture looks like a solar furnace. Fly too low over that and you significantly increase your risk of overheating (by 1000° or so!) Guest
I just love green energy I can't wait until it works on a global scale. :-) SW
gordon_dunn
Seems like one of my local windfarms has been shut down amid fears of disintegration. Imagine being near them when this happens? Very isolated location, but surrounding area is used by farmers for sheep grazing, peat harvesting, hill walkers.... an paramotors! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-30675614
