selectsecurity
Can I please have some comments on my 1st wing. Its got to be safe, and have a class B rating. I was under the impression that a Reflex wing was harder to launch and lands faster than non Reflex, this makes for harder take-offs and landings. I am very confused. http://vimeo.com/16025483 looks nice Cheers
pete_b
If you are trained on a reflex wing you will not know the difference in take off or landing speed. Im sure there are newby pilots on here that will let you know how they got on training and flying a reflex wing.
stuartasutherland
I have a Dudek Synthesis reflex wing. I've only got 15 powered launches/landings now but a few in nil or low wind. Once you learn the techniques, it is fine. In nil wind landings I have to put in a few steps, in launching I find a powered launch helps a lot. selectsecurity
Yes that sounds good, apparently using a non reflex wing will be a LOT easier to launch
pete_b
It will NOT be a lot easier to launch it will a little bit easier. If you want to do every thing the easy way then I don't think you are going to get through your training. Don't look at the easy way look at the best/correct way, I had a student that wanted to do it the easy way, he is not my student now or any one else's!!! Guest
Yes that sounds good, apparently using a non reflex wing will be a LOT easier to launch I would now put £10 on the fact that whoever has been advising you has not flown a modern reflex wing. goode400
I'm a beginner and fly a dudek synthesis. (reflex) which I also trained on. I have found it to be reasonably easy to launch. Not that I've had anything to compare it to, but given that I'm a beginner and I can launch it, it must therefore be easy to launch. I was under the impression that it only has a reflex profile when the trimmers are let out so presumably at the launch stage it's not really a reflex wing anyway.
