aquatix
http://www.verdenews.com/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=38780 already 2 pages of backlash comments giving more ammunition to the regulators. and video report: http://www.myfoxphoenix.com/dpp/news/local/hot-air-balloon-collision-10-18-2010 I've got an identical Mac Eden 4 paraglider in same colours which is fantastically manoueverable, so hard to see how he could hit a balloon without being stupid.... peter_6095
What a nightmare - it will be interesting to follow this one. I am glad that everyone is alright. Presumably given it's a trike, it is not 'foot launched' so the pilot has (is supposed to have) a microlight / ultralight licence, so is already regulated. alan_k
The trike will have be operating under FAR103 ultralight regs, no licensing in the US. Have to agree Aquatix, flying too close = stupidity. Alan
garyfreefly
Was it one of those barrage balloons I thought they were supposed to catch invading enemy aircraft... ( does what it says on the tin )

Alan I hadn't realised that it was in the US - I thought that it was the UK initially and was surprised that there was not more of a fuss. This is my favourite comment from the blog below the article: Article comment by: hoppity hop These gliderites act like they own the airspace and nobody else matters. It's a lot like bicyclists who ignore rights-of-way, and practically beg motorists to hit them. It's a good thing the serious injuries occurred to the gliderite, rather than the innocent folks in that balloon.
