Gone quiet?

Hi, I've been lurking around paragliding/paramotoring forums for some time and thought it was about time I did something about it and got in the air.

I was looking to see if there was a club or at least group of flyers in my area (Northampton) and came across this site. The forum seems to have gone a little quiet with the last post in September 2009, but hopefully someone's still around? It looks like some 'recent' posters logged in a couple of weeks ago. Northampton appears great for GA and microlighting especially with Sywell so close, but it's so flat that paragliding is out I'm surprised there's no more paramotoring going on; maybe it's all just hidden?

I almost had a go at a trial lesson last year, but circumstances put paid to that. I'd like find a club locally to see what it's all about, and then expect I'd have to go further afield for some training. Be great to talk to someone who can point me in the right direction.

Hi Matt,

It is a little quiet in Northamptonshire. I fly in Sherington (near Newport Pagnell) & met up with Nigel in the autumn, flew up near Jn 15a.

Hi Mat, Northampton usually buzzes with pm,s myself and a couple of other local guys, but its too damn cold at the mo. I live in Duston, are you nearby? I used to paraglide up Derbyshire but havent been up there for years.

It sounds like there's a few people scattered about then (I've had a couple of PMs in response to my post too). I'm not sure I've ever seen any paramotors in the sky over Northamptonshire, but perhaps I've not been looking in the right places at the right time.

Not really surprised it's too cold at the moment! When does the weather tend to get warm enough?
