phatboy
In the manual to the Powerplay Sting 160, it states that "the speed bar must not be used in motorised flight". Although I have found references on the web to pilots using speed bar with the above wing. Has anybody here used speed bar with this wing? outkast
I have the same wing and have seen that in the manual too, I think sometimes they put things in the instructions wich may just an arse covering excersise, using the speedbar may take the wing out of its certification but may be perfectly safe. t_andrews
Mini2 manual says: Never exceed 1076F EGT. Yeah right that's never gonna happen... They're probably thinking with a higher wing loading on bar a frontal would be more dynamic and intense, or it just wasn't tested, or like simonini, they don't want warranty claims. Phil_P
Agreeing with others, it will be a case of not having undergone DULV certification in accelerated mode I should think, so they say don't do it. I fly my Arcus, an identical wing with PowerPlay risers, with trim full out and full 'bar, frequently, and thus far not had any issues even in some quite ermmmm.... dynamic conditions. phatboy
Thanks Phil, that is what I thought, as you say same wing as Arcus & I have found references everywhere with people flying both wings with speed bar. Never found anything to suggest otherwise. I have been struggling to make ground a few times, even with trims out. What speed do you reckon with trims open & bar? Phil_P
Into the high twenties, and maybe even thirty mph. Bear in mind that I'm flying an XL, and my weight (naked, if you can avoid horrible pictures creeping into your mind) has dropped to about 100kg, so possibly not at maximum wing loading.
