andyy
Hi as titled I’m looking for a strobe and without seeing one in person I think it’s hard to gauge how visible they are. I came across a microlight tonight coming towards me side on and felt like he was unaware of my position, however I could see his lights easily so turned away from him to give him the best chance of seeing me and then dropped altitude. So does anyone have any recommendations based on experiences?Cost is not an issue I would rather spend money than try and cheap out and not have it as functional as it could be. It would need to be powered by battery. Thanks Andy
papagyo
Andy, This is what I have on mine, really small runs off a 2S lithium batt. I have the 360 version. My ground crew (wife) says she can see it long ways away when I am flying. http://www.feniex.com/cannon Brian
coolhand
Skyflar is regarded as one of the best available right now. I fly using an Abrams 360, and get positieve comments from fellow pilots. andyy
Thanks guys. Those led unit look interesting but I think something like the skyflar would be a better suit ready made plug and go. Any other options like this or someone that has a skyflar with a ‘review’?
Hamishdylan
I have a Microavionics 360 strobe, powered by a Li ion battery, lasts about 5 hours and is excellent at dawn and dusk. I've not found anything battery powered that will cut the mustard in full daylight. Mine illuminated roadsigns at dusk from about 800'! shobbers
These are amazing for the cost.. Run off a 9v battery.. In run tests we've got 18 hours run time running 4 lights off 1 9v battery... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Car-Truck-ATV-LED-Strobe-Light-Flash-Emergency-Hazard-Warning-Lamp-White/232482121300?hash=item362103a654:g:9v4AAOSwlpZairJg
