AndyB
This morning was one of those very rare days. Wind was below 6 Kn so took off from my local field and then I headed for the coast (25 miles away). Clocked 44 mph on the way there, with wind behind me. Then I find the tide is out, which makes it much safer to venture lower than the cliff tops, as there is now somewhere to land in emergency. Then just to be really helpful the wind swings round so it is now along the line of the cliffs, meaning it is not too turbulent around the top edges. To top it all off wind then swung round further so I had tailwind on the way back home, clocking 45 mph the other way!
cianpars
Have you ever jumped the Strait of Gibraltar, Andy?
Hann__
If the wind direction hadn`t changed, would you of had enough fuel to get home at 10mph?
