smurff
Hi all, I've got a Thor 80 with the standard Polini CP carb. Reading up on this, they offer a Walbro WG8 for a little more money. Does anyone have any thoughts or experiences on why the Walbro would be better, what would be the improvement, any downsides and would I even notice? Thanks Danny
kiwi k
If it ain't broke don't fix it , IMO if you've been flying it and not experienced any problems, apart from the odd carb adjustments i'd keep with original. If in the near future you start experiencing tuning problems or excessive fuel consumption, then maybe think about upgrading but for now i'd leave alone.
cas_whitmore
I've no experience of the cp carb . But the WG8. Is very user friendly, i like it ' also have a Tillotson carb but you can't press the diaphragm to prime the motor which can be a pain . aljken
Another point about WG8 carb. It has a fixed high jet (tuned to be deliberately slightly rich), and an idle screw and low/mid screw. It's parts are easy to get hold of. I don't know much about polini cp carb but i wouldn't bother changing it if it works on your current motor.
