admin (Simon W)
The CAA announced via an AIC (Yellow 061/2016) a collaborative airspace trial for pilots near Southampton or Solent Airspace from 1st August to 16th October, in an attempt to reduce the high number of infringements of the airspace there. The way AICs are stored, a direct link to the AIC changes every 28 days, so the sure way to find the AIC is via the Index of Yellow AICs– look there for 061/2016. Below is a copy of the document uploaded to the PMC servers. SolentCollaborativeAirspaceTrialAICY_061_2016.pdf SW
grassy2014
Thanks simon. As there is so many numpties out there infringing controlled air space I suppose its inevitable.
Hann__
Airspace around here is already congested due to Soton, B`mouth and all the stuff around Salisbury. This airspace trial area more or less covers all the space i fly in (including the take-off sites), if this trial leads to airspace amendments or further mandatory requirements our local flying is going to be well and truly stuffed. At the moment though us PPG`ers need to take no action other than stay clear of controlled airspace as normal: "Non-radio/Non-transponder Equipped Aircraft. Pilots of these aircraft should operate as normal and planning to remain clear of controlled airspace unless previously negotiated with ATC." It`s a bit worrying though.... alan_k
Sounds like a bit of a pi**er, I'd just get an airband radio and use it to monitor activity.
grassy2014
I agree HANN it's worryin. But hopefully either they won't expand the airspace or they will put it at a decent height so we won't be put out too much.
grassy2014
I'm not sure if I have this logic right. If there is a lot of infringements to the controled air space as it is. Then increasing the area of controled airspace should in itself increase the possibility of infringements. ?????
