Flying sites near Farnborough

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

Yeah, it's that old chestnut again... I'm based in Farnborough and have been trying to locate a nearby suitable site take off / landing site but haven't had any luck so far.  Is anyone able to tell me of any available sites that they use in the Surrey / Hampshire area ?  I'm not looking to barge in on anyone's private flying site, I'm just trying to find out what's available so that I can work from there.

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Mike ' sites in Surrey seem to be a bit thin on the ground , there is Barry's field at Guildford/ flexford your side of the hogs back . You've probly read the other posts about it . The search is on going though.

Hi Mike, there's a few of us in the area around Basingstoke/Hook scouting sites. Barrys field for sure is an option, we checked it out a few weeks ago and grass needs cut, PM me for further info on that and other possibles.

Hi Cas & Mark, nice meeting you at Barry`s field today. After you left, I found a right hand glove (brand name Toggi). If it`s yours, please let me know how I can send it back.

Just talked to Barry, he says he is waiting for an approval on a building plan, so paramotor pilots may lose this place later this year. Still OK to go there in the next few months though.

I started the season with an 80-minute flight from Barry`s farm, the site is in good shape, maybe the ground is not as dry as it should be (no cars allowed on the grass), but good enough for the take-off.

Argh, I should have gone there instead of the coast...  Landed on 2 feet in 20+ mph NE wind (forecast was 9 mph South), got a big applause from bystanders who thought I wouldn`t make it. Have to send a thank you letter to the wing manufacturer.

Who was flying around below me on the Hogs back tonight?  Blue and White wing with a Red/Orange patch.
