Hi everyone, so i have a Fly100evo paramotor which i have trouble diagnosing. What i have done so far: I have changed the cylinder and piston after they got stuck running too lean ( may have been damaged before as well since i bought it used). I have also done a carb rebuild (new gaskets and membrane) since it seemed to build up alot of air in the fuel line coming to the carb. The Problems i am having: -I can fly fine for about 20 mins then it starts behaving irregular in the RPM of the motor. loosing power to the point where i cant even climb anymore. -Now recently it have also started smoking a bit. - I used to have problem with it stalling when bending forward with it on my back until i did the carb rebuild. will changing the carb and reed valve to new parts help? I'm quite handy guy but combustion engines ain't my field so if anyone got tips i would greatly appreciate, I read this below which seems to fit my problems. but being stubborn i have hard accepting the not reparable part. The pilot bends over and the engine stalls. This is NOT a repairable problem! It is caused by the puddling of fuel and oil in the crankcase. Bending over will allow the flywheel to slop the puddle (usually with a higher concentration of oil) into the combustion chamber. I bought a used ParaJet Volution 2 Macro last year (it's a 2012 model). An injury kept me from flying much but it seems like it has never run well. I’m not able to get over 6500 RPM with it and even that seems to be inconsistent. That manual says to shoot for 7600 RPMs. I can run it up, get 6500, let it back to idle, then get 5500 when I run it up again. Here’s what I’ve tried so far. Replaced the fuel tank cap and fuel filter. Replaced the fuel line and put in fresh fuel. Rebuilt the carb with the OEM kit (Walbro 37c). Adjusted the throttle cable to ensure there was no slack or kinks. Replaced the spark plug twice. Had a friend check the compression. I don’t recall what it was but it remained the same each time which led him to believe there were no air leaks. Adjusted the high and low jets as well as throttle after each change. Checked the packing on the exhaust silencer. It's relatively clean and nothing is loose. Checked the resistance of the CDI and spark plug wire I’m at the point where I may have to replace the carb and/or replace the reed valve. I also read that loose packing in the exhaust system could cause problems. I’m getting very frustrated and don’t want to just start replacing things. We fired up my buddy’s Volution 2 and it ran right up to 8000 RPM. Since the high-end RPMs have been inconsistent (even when manually holding down the throttle lever), it's been hard to diagnose. Has anyone seen a similar problem and, if so, how was it fixed? Thanks!
So I'm lucky enough to have moved into a house with a massive garage with plenty of space (but very dark) for my paramotor, all my gear, tools, workbench etc.. Previously I've had to rely on open-air repairs when I get to site or after flying etc, so I'm planning now to have a really well-organised setup to make checks and maintenance easier. What's your "must haves" and "nice to haves" for setting up a paramotor maintenance zone? Any great "life hacks" that'll make a big difference to ease of maintenance? So far, my ideas are ; A dual height workbench, one height for on frame repairs and one to do "disassembled" repairs like carb rebuilds etc. A tool rack A spares bin A set of screw draws A small wall racking unit for larger parts A wall mounted directional light A head lamp Two ropes for hang testing Anyone think of anything else?!
