  1. Hi Guys, Not quite a paramotoring question but close. I'm off to France shortly and we should be spending some time near the Dune De Pyla. I would like to take the opportunity of doing some free flying whilst there. I'm sure I can slip in an old harnes and a well packed packed (squashed!) wing. I must mention that I have flown off the hill quite a bit but not for the last couple of years and as such am not a member of the BHPA. But have had a CP rating. What is required. On paraglidingearth it says to contact waggas school to fly the site, but my email was responded to with an automated email in French. I have tried to contact some of the British schools who fly there but no answer from any of them. So any info would be good. ALso what is required to paramotor in France ? Cheers Pat
  2. Hi Guys, I have posted a couple of times, but mostly watch. I've just finished rebuilding a RAD MXL and had two flight on it using an old Edel Atlas. Which whilst not the best wing is probably ok with the limited power of the MXL as it is very floaty. But I can see that in a few flights with any wind I will get a bit bored of hovering over the field! Should I upgrade the RAD with a bigger cage and prop then look at a different wing or wing then new motor. Or should I stick with it to improve my take off technique. The thought of doing a forward launch in no wind fills with dread, but if I got airborne at least I could fly slowly to places. I did ienjoy it though I wished I had done it a few years ago. I would like to thank Paul Haxby efforts in getting me airborne with his training and support. Cheers Pat
  3. Hi Guys, I'm looking to buy a new (to me) wing, for a RAD MXL I'm looking at either an APCO Tetra or a Powertoys 28 but the lack of certification on the paratoys worries me a bit. Does anyone have any experience of either the Tetra or the paratoys. Your thoughts would be appreciated. Cheers Pat
  4. Hi Guys, Just looking at my spark now and I notice that I don't seem to have one !!!. At first I thought it was a simple kill switch or on off switch issue. But when I put a meter from the tag on the coil thingy to earth I'm getting a reading of 2 ohms. Is that OK any chance someone with a Racket engine could check. No need to strip anything you can get in with the probes. But you do need to put the switch to the running position. Also whilst doing a search for spare ignition units (they are £125 from RAD). I found these guys macckartingonline.co.uk £53 so quite a saving. Hope it helps someone and I hope I don't need them. Cheers in advance Pat
  5. Thanks Simon, Where is Rob at then, I have just ordered the engine mounts from RAD but some of the otther stuff I need seems a bit expensive. Thanks for the quick responce. Cheers Pat
  6. Morning Guys' I have recently purchased a little used RAD paramotor. Bought new in 2004 it has never flown, it has run but the piston has no carbon on it at all. The only signs of wear are the motor and exhaust mounts are cracked and the starter cord is very frayed where it goes over the decompress wire. The belt looks fine as does the rest of the unit, it just needed a bit of a clean after being in a shed for the last 5 years. My question is what is the carb fitted to the Radne and what is the best place for a rebuild kit. Also are there any other points I should be looking at. Cheers Pat
