  1. Take a look about half way through this youtube video. Big collapse. In the comments they say they flew through rain and the wing was wet. So possibly an example of what to expect.
  2. This wing is in great condition. Bought from UK Windtech importer as an ex demo glider with only 5 hours on it and a porosity check of 480 seconds. That's very very high and almost the same readings as a new wing. Orange White and blue with split A risers for easy launching and a glide of 8.4. Trim is 37kmh with 50 kmh on bar. I didn't detect any loss of glide at 1/2 bar on this wing. 3 coin sized patches on it and less than 20 hours total time in the air. Comes with orange windtech stuff sack and all paperwork. It's also at £510 on eBay and a steal as reserve price has almost been reached. Thanks for looking.
  3. It's currently going for a song at £510 ( Sunday 17.30 ) and within a few pounds of the reserve price. Someone is getting a bargain.
  4. Due to a total lack of flying time I'm selling up so the Kali and my RAD MXL are for sale check Ebay item 300434259287 for more details. Thanks for looking!
  5. My RAD MXL paramotor is for sale on Ebay Low reserve with a Buy it now of £850. I no longer have the time to fly so its got to go. Ebay item 300434366875 I also have a nearly new (under 20 hours) Windtech Kali 27 (90-110 kg) paraglider for sale on Ebay item number 300434259287. Many Thanks for looking!
  6. Thanks for that fellas! There's another good homebuild site (skybolt) at http://mbppg.com/projects/sky_bolt.html I couldnt get the link to work for the ring bender but i'm sure if i join the skybolt yahoo group it'll be in there somewhere.
  7. I need to either build or buy a frame to replace my Rad MXL as it's just too small for nil wind takeoffs ( whole point of the ppg for me when it's not hill flyable). I ve been looking for a used RAD arrow frame/cage to no avail and now i' m considering either finding someone to build a frame or building one myself. It would need to be similar to the RaD frame do I could transfer everything. This would make a really interesting project for me. Should have thought about this in the winter though. I don't have a ring roll bender and that causes a problem making the hoops for the cage. I can get a mig and access to a workshop so that's covered. I' m wondering which is best the stainless thinwall water pipe or 4130 cromoly ( which I think would need tig welding). If anyone else has done this I would be grateful if you could let me know how you went about doing it. I can't find anything on google about ring roll benders in the NE but there must be someone nearby given the Tyne Valleys industrial heritage. It's just where?
  8. Any tips for building a frame to fit the Radne 120 motor? I ve got the same problem of not having a ring roll bender so I can't make a twin hoop frame. Just wondering from if anyone with more experience in these matters could offer any advice for building or if you know any frame builders? Would love to have a go at making my own cage though. I ve got an MXL and would use a similar design to that so my harness, motor, fuel tank fit.
  9. I want to transplant my Radbe Raket 120 into another frame so I can use a larger prop now I m a fatboy. Was told that people might have old Rad Arrow frames knocking around in garages so I put an add on the board but had no responses yet. My alternatives are to find a locally built copy of a Rad frame, or a builder who could make a frame to fit the Rad and a 120-130cm prop or as a last resort build my own. The main problem to the last option is that I don't have a ring roll bender for making either a single hoop or dual hoop frame. Have a friend with a garage and welding/ meltal working gear but no roll bender. Is the stainless water tubing ok for cages? I had sourced 4130 cromoly for the job if I was going to attempt it but this would mean tig welding. Anyone who built or had a frame built pass on any tips? Cheers, Glenn
  10. Probably better for the trike pilot or microlighter but also could be used for a PPG with a FRTOL for airband. comes with battery, antenna, protective case. advertised on ebay item number 300428224618 Only at £30 at the moment and no reserve so grab a bargain!!! Sold!!
  11. Unused as it didnt take the APCO MAYDAY 140kg reserve I have. it has a zip off flight deck. Ideal as a front mount PG reserve or for smaller ppg reserve. Does not include reserve chute or deployment bag, shouldn't really have to put that but for the sake of those of lower than average intelligence i will. ebay item 300428198074 Curren tly £10 (rrp £55) with no reserve. grab a bargain! Sold
  12. GOOD CONDITION PAP OVERHEAD RESERVE CONTAINER (NO RESERVE OR DEPLYMENT BAG INCLUDED OBVIOUSLY ). On Ebay right now for £8 no reserve come grab a bargain. I ve also got a Skyline classic PG reserve container with flight deck , gin paramotor risers and an ICOM A21 airband tx/rx for sale on ebay aswell. Ebay item 300428194775I SOLD
  13. It sure is a sweet lookin' paramotor. Would be a shame to sell it without a flight on it first. How much did it cost for the frame to be built? I am trying to source a RAD Arrow frame but your design looks just as good. Was it easy to build? It certainly looks pretty well thought out especially with the reduction drive and Helix prop. I want to fit a 130/120cm prop to my MXL but obviously the frame is too small hence the search for a RAD Arrow frame. Need the extra thrust of a 130 prop now I'm a fatboy. I've enjoyed watching the build just wish I had the facilities and the know how to build a frame and exhaust like yours. Well done you must be proud of your acheivement. Just hope it flies as good as it looks. All the best, G
  14. I m after a secondhand RAD arrow frame at a reasonable price. If anyone has one lying around in the garage and wants rid of it drop me a line. Cheers, Glenn
  15. For a very interesting youtube video of a complete Radne Raket 120 and Walbro WG8 stripdown go to its speeded up but it show the process and I'm sure there are hosting sites you can tranfer the video to and then download it and slow it down on your own PC. For those with Radne 120s who are looking for spareparts you might be interested to know that its based on the Husqvarna 3120/ 3120 XP chainsaw motor and i've been told by one of our powered hangie friends that the pistons/cylinders are interchangeable. Cylinder+piston+rings and gudgeon pin on Ebay are £80 as opposed to £190ish from Radne. They are aftermarket parts but sold in the US/EU as replacements for the originals.
  16. For detailed info on carb tuning try these websites. You ll have to hunt around via the homepages for others but plenty of info including walbro manuals. For spare parts try rowena motors they re second to none and cheap too. http://www.aerocorsair.com/id154.htm http://webspace.webring.com/people/bf/f ... ation.html http://www.wind-drifter.com/technical/wg8walbro.php http://www.rowenacarbs.co.uk/ http://strato.co.nz/piccolo/engine_tuneup.html that should keep you going. As I said plenty of stuff on the other wind drifter pages and aerocorsair. The bhpa mag skywings has recently ran 2 articles about fitting o2 sensors and mixture controls to a radne raket. Hope this is of some use. Glenn
  17. Cheers for the info. I found primers at my local marine supplies shop but they were too big and for 12mm I'd fuel line so you ve helped me out. I ve got a cone air filter but wanted to see how it performs against a foam filter. Had noticed Rad had put the foam one on the Arrow Classic and thought they must have a good reason for it. In the search of a bit more power/thrust I m looking to see if any local Kart tuners can get a bit more power out of the Radne engine and thrust wise if there is a 3 blade wooden/carbon prop replacement for the flexing power wasting 3 blade plastic prop. Cheers, Glenn
  18. I m in the process of upgrading my Radne powered paramotor and was wondering where you got your fuel primer bulb and air filter from? Would be nice to get the details so I could buy both. Cheers, Glenn
  19. Hi, Really interested in your build. I too have a Raket powered paramotor (RAD MXL) but want to upgrade. I like the look of your air filter and exhaust. Do you have any details of what type of air filter it is? The exhaust looks like it is a hand made jobbie. Very nice! I am trying to modify the standard exhasut on the MXL and fit a fuel guage/02 sensor in the future. Hope you get flying soon although the weather isnt playing ball. Glenn
  20. I've dinged my exhaust (amongst other things)and need another for a RAD MXL. I've seen a few upgraded exhausts for the Raket 120 if anyone knows who sells/makes them the info would be much appreciated. I know Rad themselves sell a replacement but it's pretty expensive for what it is. Cheers , Glenn
  21. Anyone got a good second hand rad mxl silencer for sale?
  22. By the way Arcus Flyer how is your new wing ? Comparsions in flight PG/PPG to your old wing? Just interested as I will change wings in another 15 hours of flying to a better DHV1-2. Been looking at a number of wings so interested in one that is certified for both Pg and PPG and what they are like in both modes. I'm not rich enough to be able to afford 2 wings so a compromise has to be struck. All the best , Glenn
  23. Hi Wzh, I did not know this that the "wing becomes a reflex". I'll definately check this out and measure each individual riser with a ruler. If the A riser only were longer ,as has been suggested, then surely this would put the wing at a higher risk of stalling when flying in PG mode and PPG mode. A higher AoA in PG mode is most undesireable as I regularly have to use Big Ears which increases AoA further. With the increased wing loading and hence higher stall speed any extension of the As would degrade the stall performance. I haven't noticed that it turns faster. It's still a boat. It does take off and land OK even in nil wind. Flying with tyhe trimmers out is a big No-No for PG. This is listed on the risers. PG take offs are cliff edges and high hills/mountains often with large drops below launch. There is no 2nd chance should you have the trimmers set incorrectly and enter a turn when launching. I won't be trying that hint out for my PG flying. If the profile becomes more reflex as is suggested then I need to think about flying Pg with the PPG risers on. They are great when flying the RAD in PPG mode. No complaints at all. It's quick enough and landing/take off is at reasonable speed. I'm happy with that and the lack of torque steer when trimmed out. Bugger! I might have to buy another wing. The mrs will not be happy!
  24. The Bolero Mk1 was never certified for powered flight and PPG risers were an afterthought introduced on the Bolero Plus which is a different glider from the original. The GIN power risers were designed for the later series of Gin Boleros , the Bolero Plus and Bolero 3 as far as I am aware. The importer of GIN faxed the owner of the company to check they could be retro fitted to the 1999 designed Mk1 Bolero. He said yes so I fitted them in good faith. However the wing does fly differently now in PG flying. I hook in the riser trimmer rings as you describe but this does not make them identical to PG risers if the individual riser length or proportions of the risers A-D are different from the actual PG risers supplied with the wing to free flyers. The wing is more unstable WITH the power risers in my personal experience. I have only ever experienced slight tip deflations with the original risers but have had full frontals which have tucked back and 50% assymetrics since fitting the PPG risers to the Mk1 Bolero whilst thermalling and hill soaring. I am smack bang in the middle of the 90-110kg range for my wing in PG mode and the risers are being used correctly with the karabiner passed through lower mounting holes and trimmer ring. . The PPG risers are a different length and design from the originals. The GIN PPG risers are about an inch longer at the A riser and have a full sliding C section line. I only remember making a quick comparison but if the risers lengths are different or in different proportions then clearly the profile or the loading on that section of the glider will be affected and therefore it's response will differ. I Never had a major excursion from normal flight conditions when at trim speed on the original PG risers. Lots on the PPG risers though. Just my experience. The bonus with the power risers is that the wing under power feels more stable and flies faster. It is also possible to trim out the torque steer and reduce the pilots fatigue. It does not suffer any of the pendular instability in pitch I've been told about but that could be down to the low/high hangpoints flown. I'm not proclaiming to be an expert either in PG or PPG just relaying my experiences and the advice I've been given. Other people too have noticed that I am having more problems when hill flying after fitting the PPG risers. Regardless of all the above if you change anything, line length, risers, sheathing etc the wing is no longer the DHV/DULV rating it was certified to from the factory. I would expect a new Mistral to fly better than an old Arcus otherwise Swing wouldnt sell a single new glider. Glad you're having fun on it though.
