D shackles

I’m looking to upgrade the D shackles on my Bailey V4. I’ve been looking at bolted D shackles with safety pins for extra security.
Has anyone done this? Any recommendations please? The current ones are 40mm long and 30mm wide.
I also want to change the main carabiners too as it’s a second hand machine.
Thanks

Could be a silly question, but what do you wear under a flying suit? Is like overalls and just put on over your normal clothes?
-
Just bought an Ozee Millennium thermal suit
-
Thank you
-
Any recommendations please for an all year round flying suit at a reasonable price?
Thanks

This is really helpful, thank you

It’s all getting complicated I’m reluctant to cut the heat shrink as that’s a brand new battery from Bailey and cost a fortune! You think they would cover this stuff in the manual!

Thanks Cas, I’ve got one somewhere from my old RC flying days . What’s PB charge option though? Also, any idea where I can get the connectors to make up the lead please?

Splendid
You can get away with horrible landings in free-flight so use the opportunity to tune your skills
A minor error is hard to "run off" with all the extra weightI’ve had a few of those too

Lol.... I recognize that shit
The D-ring has a strap as a failsafe... not sure how comfy it would be riding on the strap but it would remain flyable if the D-ring failed.
(Cant see it failing in shear though)
Twice I have managed to launch with the riser wrapped around the dog-leg (Bailey V2, similar to yours)... Not fun but the few inch imbalance was easily flyable/controllable/landable (the thrust line was off center so beware of being heavy handed)
The two Pip-Pins are under much less shear because of how the weight hangs... I would expect the welds to fail before the pins did.
Again, I would expect a shift in balance if it did but would also expect it to remain controllable.
You could do a hang-check with any of those mounting points off if you wanted an idea of what you would be into if one failed.
I once flew on old Fly paramotor without the dog-legs (I had forgotten them).... It flew but it squeezed me against the frame.
Its good to be paranoid about your gear... keep you nice and safeThat’s Good to hear and extremely reassuring! I’m training with the BHPA so currently learning free flight and practicing landings before I’m ‘allowed’ an engine. Getting some great flights from some high points in Sussex though.....Mount Caburn, Devils Dyke etc.
I can now strap on the old v4 without worrying about those little d-rings and pins

It is normal practice with the small shackles to put a small snap ring (essentially a key ring) through the hole and round the shackle pin. Then it cannot undo.
Have you got a picture of that please? I think I know what you mean but it would be good see it done. Thanks

No I’ll just be doing gentle flights with XC’s now and again. They are stainless steel but I wish they were a bit thicker!!

There’s probably some amazing physics at work here, but as a newbie still in training and yet to fly my Bailey V4, I can’t help wondering if the two pins holding the hang bars in the chassis and the mallions holding the carabiners (also on the hang bars and therefore the same pins) will be strong enough to take me and the motor!!
Everytime I go and look at it In the garage (which is often as I love it) the same thought crosses my mind

I’m crap with electronics! I do have a multimeter but have never used it
Always prepared to learn new skills though

Just bought a V4 and I have a few questions I’m hoping someone can help out with.I believe this is a fuel primer but should it be glued to the frame as mine is lose?
What type of battery should be fitted for the electric start? Looks like I have 2 YTX4A-BS 12v 2.3Ah taped together. Is that right? They are flat so I want to get the correct replacement.
Lastly, what are these for please? -
Whoops, a little emabarrasing! Told you I was new to all this.
Thank you for your help, I'll pick up a 10mm key today

Looks there’s only one UK distributor according to their website. Is that right? Where did you buy yours from please?
