  1. Chaps I have just fitted a new one of these to my Scout, not yet run, and I am seeing some chatter about a potential issue for the airbox. Rumour has it Vittorazi has a kit for this, any one seen it or fitted? I contacted teh seler who offerd to sell me some extra parts but seems wrong. Dave
  2. I assume there grounding points only. I went the other way and wired the Parajet throttle so that both buttons function as kill switch as I have no starter. Parajet has 4 wires for 2 NO switches. Vittorazi has a single switch so just wire in the kill chassis and coil. BTW I still have the Vittorazi throttle as it moved to my V3.
  3. Hi I'm using the recommended Motul 800. I also run the Factory 40:1 and I know its a big debate on this topic so enough said. My only gripe is that its green and good discipline needed on mixed and neat oil, the red would be much better.
  4. Got the print back today, 'Like a Glove' very happy with the finish. When the snow goes I'll run in the new engine and give it a proper review. Tony, not sure what instrument you have but the model is here: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/hsgTiP1Uz5j-multifunction-display/edit?sharecode=qESM28UpfnX8drYs8aLB278RVqrdaSl4PklVhIqtmkA=
  5. Bolt paint also from Amazon, here its called Schrauben Sicherungslack! I have it for my car building but its also dabbed over all the critical bolts on my V3 and Scout Hope your managing some flying in Cornwall, too cold in south Germany right now. Dave
  6. I had a early engine fail that maybe I would have spotted if I had been watching engine temps so I'm now paranoid enough to check CHT on takoff and periodically in flight. I keep a log book for the engine and for each flight record the takoff (max temp) and cruse temps as interested to see if there is a trend. In fairness tacho is questionable but maybe useful to understand level cruse engine speed and if I have a problem will be useful diagnostic as opposed to if feels like full revs. The instrument also logs flight and total house but so does my Garmin watch app so maa, belt, braces and tape Do I need it, no but in the end it was discounted on Amazon for 29.99 euros so almost rude not to have one for the new engine.
  7. Tony I saw a few of these throttles at Skyschool with tape as well! In an effort to stop this I used Loctite 243 on the bolt to the aluminium thumb wheel and some bolt indicator paint so I see if it works loose. Wont stop it falling out completely but does keep the thumb wheel fixed. I may look at making a plastic part to secure the thumb wheel as it only needs half a turn for free to locked or drill and wire the screw, thoughts? Dave
  8. Just designed a holder that will clip on the swing arm and point the display somewhere useful. Next job to print and try it
  9. Not very exciting but the actual fitting...
  10. Just finished fitting a new Moster 180MY19 to my Scout frame. Motor fit fairly easy and almost took as long to fit the optional head cooling duct as the engine to the frame due to fiddly washers and bushes. I did install a new multi function meter and making the wiring look invisible took a bit of time but overall fairly easy. Using a Parajet throttle and wired both switches as kill plus a frame mounted kill switch. The 'Scout Safe Start' system is still on my V3 where it will stay as I always start while wearing my motor.
  11. Hi all, I decided to take a punt and the meter arrived today. Actually went for the Runleader RL HM028 A Inductive Tachometer with Backlit Display Time Thermometer. Just under 30 Euros from Amazon and 1st impression is good. Screen is bigger than the default unit I had on the Scout and much easier to read. After a bit of faf in the menu, a RTFM moment, I set the clock and CHT temp limit alarm, seemed easy enough really. I tested it on a bench supply and browns out at around 4.5V, not bad as it can run upto 24V, and by brown out I mean the back light start to flicker, digits still solid. I will connect a small 2 cell LiPo as the primary supply as very small and will give a solid 7V plus. I struggled to measure any current so probably one charge a season will be enough and the internal battery will save the data during any charge periods. Mechanically seems well built so at this time a thumbs up! Will install with the new engine this weekend. Taking the chance to also swap out all the old fuel lines as not as flexible as they used to be, like us all!
  12. Hi all, as part of 2019 flying prep I am fitting a new Moster 185 Plus MY'19 to my Scout so its ready for when I am confident enough to step away from my Parajet V3 Sky Tractor. Nothing wrong with the V3 but after my 1st school flight and subsequent new carbon cage I decided the Scout was not the tool for learning on and bought a V3 cage and performed a engine swap. I still have the Scouts mashed carbon spars in my workshop as a reminder to not rush! Currently I have only 50 flights under my belt so probably holding off till flight 100, optomistic for 2019 I actually really like the V3 but with the Scout's cool carbon features and torque correction I think its the next progression. I also like the idea of having a backup should I have any engine problems in the summer, it only happens on flying days! I had a few niggles but overall big Moster fan and as I already carry the spares seems logical to stick on that path. To the topic. When I performed the original engine transplant I took over the Safe Start system, throttle and combined instruments so I'm looking for a new instrument for temp, rpm and hour counter. I found this SRT-35T Multi function meter and it seems to do all I need. http://www.searon-tech.com/product_view.asp?id=158 Has anyone had any experience of it? Seems cheep enough on Amazon, 45 Euros here, so ok for a punt but just doing my due diligence Still undecided if I will use the Parajet throttle that came with the frame or to get a Vittorazi one. Feedback apreciated. Engine transplant here:
  13. https://en.laacr.cz/info.htm some formal rules and guides, in English
  14. Hi Chaps I was looking at potential flying in Czech Republic for 2019. I am Munich based so 3 hours from me is what looks like a potential spot. Lots of formal info but maybe anyone else interested? Thinking April but super flexible as no holidays jet to plan around. Any experience of flying in this region appreciated of maybe some local knowledge. Looking here: https://goo.gl/maps/Mop3tbSiQUr There seems to be a grass airfield and plenty of potential sites.... Local hotels are not so expencive and was looking at a chalet for 1 to 2 weeks. Dave Sport Flying Device may be flown by the pilot, holder of the valid Pilot Licence with the adequate qualification, or the pilot - student on conditions established by the training programme - Just before the flight, during the flight and just after finishing the flight the pilot or pilot - student must be able to submit folowing valid documents: the identity document, the Pilot Licence or the Student - pilot document, the Airworthiness Certificate of the SFD the Third party liability Insurance certificate
  15. Looks awesome, could replace my ideas around my second aircraft being a paramotor trike... Only downside is as a ex weight shift microlight pilot the main benifit is the 2nd seat... Still very low cost way to get airborne and would be much quicker.
  16. Ok actual did it today with my Moster Plus. Factory says use a 4kg counterweight if no frequency counter is available so I did both to see how they compare. The frequency method has much higher resolution than a 4kg weight to be sure so app installed I now have a very fast way to pre-flight the belt. FYI, belt at about 50 hours looks like new, no cracks or wear apparent. Starting frequency was 300Hz, well below the recommended 430-450Hz for the 13 tooth Moster plus. Vitorazi do have a very goo Youtube how to video that made it a 20 min job so easy. I used a bolt marker fluid, like green thick paint, to be able to make a visual check if anything moves. Also found my small torque wrench is one direction! Had to eyeball the reverse thread on refit.
  17. Ok I was being super lazy, quick search and I found an old post with link. Here is the app info, its free so worth a punt. http://www.custom-air.co.uk/Custom_Air_Paramotors/paramotor_files_nitro_engine_belt_tension_setting.html Good luck. Dave
  18. Twang the belt to check tension! ok I'm game whats the app and how do I get the correct frequency for my Moster....
  19. I don't want to muddy the water but the flyskyhy works for me. http://flyskyhy.com/ As all things it what your used to but you can (and need to) down load the map for where your flying. Once this is done your not relying on mobile data and for the spped we fly seems to work well. There is a low cost option for air space notification and waypoint planning as add ons, I have the air space as use a standalone Garmin MAP64s for actual nav always marking new airfields for the way home. Each flight is logged and actually the easiest tool I have for maintaining my paper log book is the FLIGHT app on my Garmin watch. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/activity/2974487801#.W69PR2y6vGg.link The watch app also gives me return to home automatically, Paranoid with 3 ways home, new pilot playing safe I like to think
  20. I started with a ground course in Paragliding to learn how to handle the wing. The wing is much the same and the ground handling same mostly alternate technique for launch. Really good to get the initial wing inflation to be muscle memory and good fun.
  21. Just back from my holiday with some good flying in Cornwall, Oxford and France. 1st time properly solo but on the whole fairly happy. When I have time I'll make a short vid of the flying highlights, a run up the Tamar river in Cornwall, Flying around Oxford and France but if your interested a short of some of the ups and downs here. Couple of stupid mistakes, wet grass morning and very wet wing tried to pre-inflate badly, result uneven wing lift but ok on attempt 2 and schoolboy error looking down and forgetting to flare at the right time. Still nothing broken and still had a lot of fun.
  22. Hi Tony

    Are you around next week?

I'll be back in Cornwall and would be good to get a flight together.

      Tony

Back for a week and sadly did not manage the cross-country to Davidstow.

Did manage some flying though including the Tamar river run.

Next time although may be  a couple of years before I bring all the kit back again.

What a shame.  My Op went worse than it should off and I was off for a good few weeks.  In fact I am just back from a weekend away and that is the first time out the house really.

Hoping to get back in the air tomorrow or Wed before I drive up to the fly-in.

Sounds like you had a good time - flying over your old haunts :-)

Not flown down south yet, but would be awesome to fly from here down there refuel 'somewhere' and fly back again.

Maybe some planning for your next visit.

Take care and hope to see you over again

      Tony

  23. Cheers chaps. I plan to fly this weekend weather permitting the Tamar river to Gunnerslake. I need to check out a flying site and should have a local option as my sister is connected to the local farming community. Bath is open but I have a site in Oxford for the following week arranged. Will call in on PJ on the way to Cornwall as interested in a Falco for my V3. Next year I will switch to my Scout for regular flying so will retire the V3 for social use only. Dave
  24. Hi I will be re-trying the Cornwall tour from 25th to 31st August. I will be based in St Mellion forthe week and hope to fly the Tamar from Halton Quay to Gunnerslake plus some coastal flying. Currently looking for a launch landing site around Callington and any tips appreciated. Then moving to Bath for the 1st September weekend before final UK tour element on Oxford 3rd to the 6th Sept. Would be great to fly with some locals in any of these locations so if your about in these times please let me know so we can orginise a flight together. Fairly new pilot but very keen to fly with some Brits as normally based near Munich, much more restrictive flying. Dave
