  1. Phil, Were you on a 175? Out of interest, do you know how much fuel you used in that time? I fly a 175 with a Synth 34. Last Sunday I went on a 2 hour XC and used just over 7 litres. I was a little disappointed with those figures but I did have the trimmers fully open and was using full speed bar as and when my legs could handle it! Regards Chris
  2. Does anyone know where I can get a tow bar attachment to carry a paramotor? Ideally one that simply attaches to the ball if possible. As I often use my towbar, I don't want to be unbolting the brackets etc every time I want to take the motor out. Any help would be appreciated!
  3. Sorry, I should have explained myself better! Somerton in Somerset, south of Glastonbury, north of Yeovil. Regards Chris
  4. Dear all, I'm going down to stay with a friend of mine this weekend. He is a farmer near to the village of Somerton. Are there any pilots near by I could catch up with for a quick fly should the weather be suitable? Also, as I do all my flying in the north, I don't have an airmap of the south of England. Where can I get one quickly or at least view one on line? The forecast isn't looking too great at the moment but I'm taking my kit just in case.
  5. Well done Snowman. Hope to see you in the air soon.
  6. I'll be up for it Meds. I'll probably take my Sprinter. Got my double bed in it at the moment, so no need for a tent! Therefore I can take 2 motors with me if needs be.
  7. The extra weight makes you improve your ground handling skills so that you make sure you take off the first time! I got my 175 in November and have done 12 hours on it so far. I did have an 'engine out' last week. I found that the fuel pipes that connect to the in line fuel filter were loose. They were simply pushed on and the engine vibration had made them work loose and leak. 2 cable ties have sorted that though. I have been caught out a couple of times with flat batteries. As the Bailey only has an electric start, I now have to carry around some jump leads and a spare battery. Some people say you shouldn't start a motor unless its on your back. I still haven't worked out how you do this when you have to jump start it. Once its started, I run it for a no more than a minute. This seems to put enough charge into the battery to start it on its own. I would never start it by getting someone else to spin the prop as it is too dangerous. Other than that, I think it is a great machine. Bruce at Bailey's is great at after sales service and always helpful. I hope this helps. Where abouts in OZ are you? Chris Bailey 175 Dudek Synthesis 34
  8. Would love to fly on Saturday but got to work unfortunately!
  9. Some awesome flying weather we are having! Managed to go for a 40 min flight after work last night. Took off in the field but landed in the garden!! Can't wait for the clocks to change and more evening flying can happen. This weekend is looking good too!
  10. I can't do tomorrow, but I may have a go on Saturday morning if the weather holds up. Still not changed my engine oil yet. Meds, it was funny when I saw you in Winsford yesterday!
  11. I would love to but I think I need to do some work this week! I've got some cracking photos from Friday that Paul sent me. He needs your email address as he has some of you. PM me with it and I'll pass it on. 3 of us spent all day Saturday flying round my place. Awesome fun. I'll let you know about Wednesday but it's a 'no' for the moment.
  12. I'm in! See you there. Forecast is looking good at the moment.
  13. Hi Alan, I also have a Synth 34. I'm no expert as I have only started flying before Christmas. However, I always take off with the trimmers at 0. Once I get to my cruising height, I open the trimmers out. Normally to the 14-15 setting. I always set them back to zero on landings. I also get some torque steer, which rightly or wrongly I correct with the trimmers. In most cases my right trimmer is set to 15 and the left is at 10. (Can anyone advise on this? I fly a Bailey 175) On take offs, I also find I have to apply a small amount of brake to unstick off the ground and then slowly release the brakes as I climb. I haven't flown with the speed bar yet. I hope this helps. Chris
  14. Does your boss know that you post on here during working hours!!!!! Well done with the new motor. Excellent photos!!! Lets hope for some good weather soon.
  15. Keith, I'm Chris and I was flying with Mark and Matt yesterday. I have only just started paramotoring. Did my training out in Portugal in November. Have done about 5 hours since I got back. Just been on a 40 min fly this morning. I would be very keen to join you on a XC. I live in Glazebrook near Warrington. My girlfriend lives near Chester, so I could easily meet up at some point. I'll PM you my contact details. Mark, thanks for the invite yesterday. Really enjoyed flying over Beeston. Merry Christmas all. Chris
  16. I'm free any day other than Christmas Day until the 4th Jan when I go away for a week. I could probably get permission on a site near Oulton or near the Ice Cream Farm in Tattenhall if we wanted to head over to Beeston etc. Meds, I remember you saying you didn't want too many taking off at your site. It's looking a bit overcast today but tomorrow looks good!
  17. Meds, Arcus Flyer and myself are ready for a flight over your way! I hope i'm right saying that Arcus! We've got some good weather coming up and some sime off. Beaston Castle sounds great and I'm well up for it! Regards Hammertime
  18. Hi Meds, I know some farmers near Oulton Park. I'll ask around and see if we can get a site local to you. Do you have a site you can use? I was doing some ground handling yesterday. Can't wait to pick up my Motor on Saturday! Regards Hammertime
  19. Hi Nirmal, I have sent you a PM with some details. Its good to find someone who sounds like they are at the same stage as myself. Regards Chris
  20. I have a 10 acre field of my own that will be a suitable site for this time of year. I have also got the option to use some of my mates fields. In the summer months, a lot more land will be available. I haven't flown from home yet as I don't pick up my gear until next week at the show. I have gone for a Bailey 175 and a Synth 34. I managed to get 5 flights done during my training. Each of about 45 mins each. Where are you from?
  21. Dear All, I have just become a new member to this sport and to this forum. Having just completed a 10 day course out in Portugal I am looking forward to some local flying. I am picking up my kit at the Splash show next week. I would like to know of any other pilots in the Cheshire and Lancashire areas that I could tag along to. I am also a farmer! I therefore have my own site which I would like to offer to any other local pilots (In exchange for a few tips and pointers on my techniques etc!!!!) I look forward to hearing from you!
