  1. This has now sold, but the trailer is still available on eBay if anyone is interested... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/256100070618 Cheers Jim
  2. Hi all, I thought I'd offer my setup on here first before faffing with FB market place, eBay etc... I've had this kit for 5 years and have simply not used it to its full potential and now I feel it's just taking up space so it's got to go. I did take some time to select the right bits of equipment so hopefully someone else can make good use of it! Paramotor: Tag alloy frame made in Hull UK. With a Corsair Black Bull 2-stroke engine at around 33HP. Electric and Pull Start. Apco split-leg harness in size Large. Throttle is currently setup for Left-Handed but can be changed to Right-Handed if necessary. The frame did have a slight twist when I got it which I have pulled out. The fuel tank was pulled off its mount and has been repaired and mounted higher up using straps rather than a solid mount. It was my intentions to use this setup as is, and then fit a 3-bladed Carbon prop to gain the full thrust this motor can produce. It has an hour/temp meter fitted but this needs a new battery. Also, the electric start battery died, so it will need a 4S replacement. I can demonstrate it with a couple of my RC Car batteries although these will not be included in the sale. On taking the following photos, I noticed that the fuel primer bulb has perished so I have ordered a replacement, which will be fitted before sale. Cover and Prop covers included. Wing: Ozone Spyder 26M. It has never been flown and has maybe a couple dozen ground handling hours on it. All original accessories included, stuff sack, speed bar etc as well as the ruck sack. I do have some videos of me ground handling this on YouTube which I can link to. Trailer: 5 foot by 4 foot trailer has clamps fitted to hold the above frame for transport. Was fully refurbished a couple of years ago including brand new cover, lights, tyres etc. Plenty of space for fuel cans, wing bags etc Reserve: Supair Light reserve parachute in size Large. Unopened since purchase, you would be wise to have this and the wing professionally checked before flight. Accessories: Anemometer, Fall harness and old Paraglider harness used for ground handling. Couple of wind socks one large one small including pole. Brand new unused Giro skateboarding helmet modified for 3M ear defenders and Bluetooth headset ala Tucker Gott. Has a small USB power bank glued to side to power GoPro. Second headset included for ground comms. I am open to reasonable offers for a quick sale. I will not be offering any items for sale separately until the Paramotor and Trailer are sold as these are the items that are taking up the space. Guide price for everything as pictured is £3500 Best regards, James
  3. This is an awesome video to watch to get the very basics... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jiQMEmnJT0&list=LLPcFrpF5fe1t3TB-twq-zRg&index=17&t=0s Cheers, Jim
  4. Hey Mark, please could I get some more info on this? I'm in Preston and in a similar position to the OP (sorry to hijack ). Cheers, Jim
  5. I contacted Dean at ActiveEdge this week... he's busy with Paragliding at the moment so not taking on any 'motor training... Cheers,
  6. Hi all, I have a TAG Paramotor which uses the standard 'universal netting' which whilst functional, I believe looks rubbish with its large Velcro surround. So I'm exploring other options and wondering if other people have re-done the netting on their frame and can offer some advice? I quite like the Parajet solution of the clip on plastic tube, but it seems over priced, very blue and the large openings at the bottom leave a lot to be desired. I wonder what type of plastic is used and if it can be recreated as a DIY project? I'm also not adverse to drilling the alloy frame for riveting a net on. And tips on this? Finally, what type of netting is now preferred? I see knotless types, 20mm-50mm? Single filaments etc Many thanks
  7. Hi Katie, I spotted this a few days ago on your channel... You're coming along well! It's hard work in little wind and the hot weather hey? One thing I did spot from your Vid is that the audio is comparatively quiet... Have you thought about a wing purchase yet so you can practice kiting away from school? Cheers
  8. Hi, Most people up here are heading south towards Derby and... http://www.airways-airsports.com/airfield-information Cheers,
  9. I can’t get this link to work Vince...? This is the one I tried recently, but bizarrely the volt meter read 8.xx when it should of been 16.xx. It would of been perfect otherwise! https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2S-6S-Lithium-Lipo-Battery-XT60-Plug-to-USB-5V-Charger-Converter-Module-Adapter/253475676113?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649 I may try the first one you posted though. This is on an electric start so I have a 4S Lipo on board. Cheers,
  10. It might be more due to mixture? I've no experience with this particular type of engine so I can't help you in that respect. How bad is the scoring though? Can you feel it with you're finger nail? It might be OK once you've got the mixture dialled-in/checked. Cheers,
  11. Hi, I'm recently back from FlySpain and whilst it does feel quite intensive in retrospect, what it does do very well is introduce you into the steps of training which I now feel confident to continue in my own time without the need to travel miles to a UK based trainer. I wasn't aware beforehand, but the 2 weeks Paragliding and Paramotoring course only trains you up to BHPA club pilot. You will still need to do some further training/assessments to acquire the full club pilot rating. I can however, fully recommend FlySpain, a great bunch of guys and an excellent course, if you wish to got that way. I was pondering buying an old wing many months ago to get some ground handling done before heading out, which I can see the benefit of, but on the other hand, you will most likely be training with complete beginners so you will need to wait for them to catch up before you can start with first hops/top to bottoms etc. I ended up buying a brand new Ozone Spyder from them at a £500 discount when purchasing training. Which seemed a reasonable deal. I'm now pottering around in local fields, becoming a master at ground handling before taking to the skies again. Cheers,
  12. Hello all, Hypothetically speaking, if I was to purchase a second-hand Paramotor with very limited experience in the sport, is there a vendor in the UK that would be able to give it a good once over and check it out and give it some kind of 'air-worthiness' certificate before I entrust my life with it? I am fairly savvy with the spanners myself (I've restored a couple of old VW's) but if I'm dropping 3-4k on a decent second hand unit then I would consider £100 or so for a check/service fairly shrewd. I see these things exist for wings, but not seen any mention of it for 'motors... Cheers, Jim
  13. I gave up trying in this country! I was looking at Airways Airsports, but it would of involved too much driving for unreliable weather/flying conditions. So I bit the bullet recently and booked a 'holiday' to FlySpain... 5 weeks to go! Cheers, Jim
  14. Hi all, Please can I get some insight into what UK based events are planned for 2018? It'd be nice to attend some fly-ins, or just some airshows etc. What are you looking forward to attending this year? Cheers, Jim
  15. Hi all, I've been lurking in the background but I finally have an update... I've booked 2 weeks with FlySpain in March, and I'm really looking forward to it! I'm in discussion with Rob to purchase a new wing from them so I can get used to the same kit right from the get go. Hopefully I'll be able to pick up a decent second hand 'motor in April in the UK upon my return (I've got my eye on that Yooda Yak that's on eBay at the moment, but we'll see). So, here's to an ace Spring/Summer! Cheers, Jim
  16. Hi all, Has anyone had any hands on experience with Airfer paramotors? How is the build quality, design, after sales support etc? I see Midland Paramotors are a dealer in this country, but before I contact them directly I was wondering what information I can glean from you guys. Here's some links: Manufacturer Spanish dealer Midland Paramotors Cheers, Jim
  17. I did look into RunwayHD but it looks unnecessarily expensive. Unless I'm missing something?! I've just ordered the Powered Paragliding Bible so I'll let you know which page Commodes are referenced! Cheers, Jim
  18. Hi all, So newbie here... this Paramotor thing has been on my mind quite a lot recently. I blame all those awesome YouTube videos! It seems I'm getting closer to taking the plunge on some training. In the mean time, I've been thinking about the kit that's involved, suitable wings to train on, how much power do I need etc. But what about the other bits n pieces? What items do you feel are essential to this sport? Obviously a Helmet. What gloves do you have or can recommend? Fuel cans? Things like that. It'd be interest to hear your ramblings too on what you could not do without. Cheers, Jim
  19. Dragging this topic up again... Any further info on this 'motor? Cheers, Jim
  20. In addition... Upon having a further read, I'm wondering if a Reflex wing would be a suitable first/training wing. Perhaps I could push to an Ozone Spyder....? Hmm Cheers, Jim
  21. Hi, Cheers for the Welcome! Ben, I had a good read of Airway Airsports Website upon reading your reply yesterday. I like the cut of their Jib! Looks like it'd be a good idea to take their Taster day too someday soon. When are you looking to take the next stage? I notice there is a reasonable campsite nearby so i'll maybe look to stay a few days/week and complete the full course up to and including PPG. Simon, Cheers for the advice. Its a shame I'm not closer to you as I'd use your services. I notice how quick on the draw you are to questions on here, which is very helpful. Thank you. Hopefully the weather will be kind and there will be no need to travel to Spain! The idea of training in this country does feel more 'right' to me. There are a few questions I wish to put Airways Airsports way, which I'll air on here. Perhaps you could give your views too? Their full package includes a wing purchase. I wondered if they would supply the 'PWR' version of the Ozone Mojo wing and let me train there on that (paraglide, tow launches etc) so it will be of use to me when I start powered flight? Are the fundamental differences in the risers? Which I guess could be trimmed to suit? Also the paragliding harness I feel will not be of any use to me after training so I wondered if they would let me hire one for the training period instead? And lastly, can I supply/use my own helmet? As long as it is rated correctly etc... I'm just trying to think of ways to nip the cost down a little! Cheers, Jim
  22. My first post here... Hello! It seems to be the wrong time of year to be asking this kind of question, but my keen-ness prevails! I'm looking to find out what my training options are in the North-West. I'm based around Preston and notice there are a coupe of gliding clubs near-by; Penninie Soaring Club being one. I'm wondering if any chaps from those clubs could let me visit one day to watch/learn? Eventually I'd like to move towards PPG next year but I figure a bit of kiting/soaring might be a good start? Also, are there any other like minded newbies on here that are looking to undertake PPG training in Spain next year? Cheers, Jim
