  1. I did my training with Paddys Parmotor Training and have subsequently found it to have been a bit limited. I am aware of the restriction over Leamington itself but I think if you go beyond Dunchurch you're then into free space away from the issues with BHX and Coventry. At the moment I would put up with busy if it meant I get to fly. I have had to stay clear for 8 weeks after an op so I'm just practising my ground handling again to get a feel for it while looking for a place to fly from. I am away for most of the next two weeks with work but would be interested in going with you to the microlight club after this if its OK.
  2. I understand - I get the impression sites are precious. I am fairly new to the sport and only have a few hours experience so admit I still have a lot to learn. ATB Rob
  3. Hi, I'm not far from you in Leamington Spa and was wondering if you have a local flying site you might be willing to share? Also if you fancy meeting for a flight I'd be interested. ATB Rob
  4. Hi Guys, I see in an earlier thread there is a club flying from ground at Byfield and also I think from Bloxham. Are you open to any new members? I live in Leamington Spa and I'm looking for a site to fly from and hopefully other fliers to join up with. It would be great to hear from someone and hopefully meet up some time. Thanks and regards Rob
  5. Perhaps the fact that no aircraft prop manufacturer, who spend millions on the most efficient design due to the high returns on efficiency savings from even the smallest percentage improvement, have produced them is telling? Just a thought. Rob
  6. Thanks guys, appreciate you taking the time. Hopefully I can get it finished for this coming weekends fly-in. ATB Rob
  7. Hi Everyone Can someone tell me the best epoxy for filling larger areas of damage on wooden props? I know cyanoacrylate and baking powder is fine for small stuff but this probably too brittle for larger areas. I managed to snag a couple of lines in the prop which pulled it into the cage and impacted the leading edge damaging approx four inches long by upto half an inch max. As it was brand new and has never even gotten off the gound I'd like to save it if I can (oh happy days!). Naturally I would prefer something cheap from B&Q rather than unobtainable from NASA and I'm sure there are a few people on the site who have been here before. Look forward to your replies ATB Rob
  8. Hi Guys, The weather prospects for this weekend are looking great and I would ideally like to find somewhere local to fly from. Does anyone know of a site close to the Leamington Spa/Warwick area which I could use? Also any flyers who would like to meet up. PM or call me anytime on 07967 388976 Thanks Rob
  9. People are always posting complaints about after-service from manufacturers so I thought a bit of balance would be good. At the beginning of March I started a topic after crashing my Parajet Macro. As well as the usual blown propeller I bent both the chassis and a section of the cage. Both items were bent beyond return so I contacted the factory for help. I have been in touch with the people at Parajet a couple of times since buying the Macro and I always get an enthusiastic helpful response from whoever I speak to. On this occasion I took the parts down and was told no problem we can cut this and that and rejig etc so I left it with them. I finally managed to get back there yesterday and I'm totally delighted with the work. They managed to cut out the areas bent beyond repair and you would have to look very closely to see the work. On top of this the charges were very reasonable. We all have personal reasons for our choice of paramotor but for me ability to speak directly with people at the factory who really seem to care about their product and customers is a huge plus. Can't wait to put it back together and get in the air again. Rob
  10. Hi Pete, Thanks for the info. I have contacted Parajet and they think they can repair the chassis damage and I have almost straightened the cage. It will still have damage to one of the lowers but should be OK for flight. Torn straps are the lower back ones and hey have just been pulled out of the seam so a little needlework should suffice. I'm going t strip the unit tomorrow as I will be nearby to Parajet on Thursday and can drop the chassis in for repair. It will also give me a chance to check eveything over for any hidden damage. Regards Rob
  11. Hi Dave, Totally my own fault and inexperience. Flying downwind too low and then trying to accelerate up a slope - insufficient lift - thud!
  12. Hi All, An unexpected meeting of me and the ground has resulted in a broken twin blade prop on my Parajet Macro (plus a lot of other parts). Does anyone know the best place (economic and reliable) to obtain a wooden replacement? I don't fancy paying for another carbon blade at this stage if I can get cheaper wooden one. List of damage on Macro: Blown prop, bent cage, damaged chassis, bent electronics box, bashed helmet (thank god I was wearing it) and torn stabilising straps on harness. List of damage to me: few bruises, very swollen thumb, damaged ego and large hole in wallet. If anyone has any used parts I could be interested. Thanks in advance Rob
  13. Has anyone got a manual for a Fairhaven AV10 variometer they can either sell, photo copy or scan for me? Thanks and regards
