  1. Hi Fred. The torque strap was fitted when I had it but to be honest the torque on this unit was not a problem because the prop pitch was so fine you did not feel the torgue like you did when you started you run at full power with the old Solo engine on your back. The engine on my last unit was a Vitorazzi racing engine (cant say I spelt it right) and this was a go-cart developed racing engine which was light with high revs to get the BHP - 12000 rpm on the 80cc unit and the final prop speed was 3000rpm and I clocked mine at 3150 which was going some. - in my mind I felt this engine was a good choice and on a par with the Radney which was also light with a good power output - I did own one of the Rad units but it suffered badly with belt slip and really needed a proper gearbox like the backbone unit... The paramotor video made in 1998 was the Rad unit but to be fair after about two years it was sold on. Things have moved on a lot now (for the better) and its interesting to see whats about - but shame my flying days are over... for you Fred ps.bruce@btinternet.com
  2. This is interesting - Yes the motor unit was mine and so are all the mods made to it. - fuel vent prevents fuel s*removed by admin*, bigger 10Ltr fuel tank, changed throttle with rev counter, smaller air intake to ensure better airflow, changed hang point, increased compression ratio & altered timing and exhause system (the latter was so bad on the original it would fail on each flight). This was an 80cc unit (prev units were 66cc water cooled). via a 4 to 1 gearbox. The address you had in Croydon was indeed correct but I moved to Eastchurch on the Isle of Sheppey in Oct 2007. If anyone wants my info email me and I will supply my full details. I hope my old unit gave good service because it did with me - it was my 4th unit and I was pleased with the good power to weight ratio as when I started it was the good old Solo agricultural lump most used and a small lighter lump can give the BHP if you gear it right and use the right prop pitch.
  3. Hi - When I had the paramotor on the IOW it was all rather new and illegal so I did keep a very low profile that year- police followed me from Chale to Blackgang where I doubled back and lost them so you can see life was not like it is now... Because Airwave were on the island there were always so many world class flyers trying out HGs & wings and I tended to stay with Airwave and as you see the last wing I had was the Voodoo 2 which was not the easiest to forward launch with. So much more is known about the wings now and from what I have seen the inflation on a forward launch is so much more predictable - you lucky lot - I miss it a lot still. I have just come off Eastchurch beach after about 45 minutes soaring with a flying wing (looks like a HG) Poor substitute... I am glad the video is getting a few views - shows how old I am. If you type into Youtube "Eastchurch Gap" you will get find a video flying from the beach if your interested.
  4. If I place them here then they should be safe - the videos have got worse over time. Hope they dont bore you to tears but early ones are not too easy to find. And a Crash...
  5. Forgive the quality but the camera and tape were nothing like they are now...
  6. Many thanks to all as the unit is now sold. Gone to a good new home with a guy who has 5 years flying under his belt. Knowing its gone to a safe responsible flyer / home makes me feel so much better. Fly safe. Peter Bruce.
  7. Hi Ian. I would truly like to fly with you but a few years ago my wife and I saw a microlight G-STX go down on the cliffs and that was when she put her foot down saying I could not fly again - tried many times to get the paramotor and the wing in the same place but one unit stayed at our static caravan and the other stayed at our real home - this went on for two years before I gave up trying. I have had over 20 years in the sport (hang glider first) and not regretted any of it and never had an incident myself however I saw many over the years. Been with a paramotor since before it was legal in the UK and had a good number of articles published in Skywings with an ending "it is currently illigal to fly a paramotor in the UK".... Even had an input into the BHPA Paramotor exam - - yes I had to take it as well and it was a lot harder than I expected but I passed. My wife Jan has supported me for many years with my flying but the death of the two guys in the microlight before her eyes finished it off - I can understand. My paramotor has got to go now - I have tried to play it out but my feet have to now stay on the ground. I have had a total of four paramotors and this one for sale is simple, light & reliable with few frills... As a way to let go of my frustration I am now flying model R/C planes and scale helicopters - the latter was a challange but good fun... Peter
  8. Revolution (80cc air cooled version) good runner and a good engine & gearbox which runs at a ratio of 4 to 1. Static thrust of 45 Kg @ 11600 revs. Max pilot weight 115 Kg Fuel tank 10 Ltr - if you can stand up with it - I used to carry 7 Ltrs. 3 props - big 1.31 Mtr so it shifts a lot of unobstructed air. Reserve chute included - needs repacking. Harness - built in with high hang points so you can use your existing wing. Pull & electric start. £1000.00 ONO. Buyer collects - Kent area.
