  4. THIS HAS BEEN SOLD Ozone Spyder 24 (£3400 new) Red and White - superb condition. Only 9 hours - comes exactly as new with Ozone Rucksack and Ozone stash bag Ozone riser bag £2300.00 Can ship anywhere am based near Brighton Heres the blurb ! The Ozone Spyder from Ozone Paragliders New Features: The aspect ratio remains a very reasonable 5.1. This AR is a great compromise to keep a compact span for better take off characteristics and ease of use and safety in general. We have added 3 cells in order to improve sail cohesion, precision through the brakes, and inflation characteristics. The hybrid reflex OZRP profile from the original Ozone Roadster has been replaced with a new dedicated shark nose profile, which yields better inflation, greater spin resistance, better behaviour in slow speeds, better handling, and more stability at high speeds. The construction Has been optimised in order to reduce the weight of the sail. This leads to a quicker inflation and makes take-off easier. The overall line length has been reduced: this helps to reduce roll and makes the inflation quicker and easier. The sail has been designed with our new CAD software. It is cleaner and the forces are spread more homogenously along the span, which makes the sail more compact and the wing more efficient. The total line drag has been reduced by 16%, which also translate to more efficiency and a quicker take-off. This line drag reduction has been accomplished even with the use of durable and robust sheathed lines from the original Ozone Roadster. We added more straps, in order to improve the cohesion of the sail at accelerated speeds. The Ozone Spyder is a fully reflexed paramotor glider. First and foremost it is a fun, safe wing that is forgiving to fly. It is a dependable platform that is ideal for everyday flying and a broad range of pilots, from experienced to beginners. With lower airtime pilots in mind, special attention has been made to the launching characteristics and general ease of use, however due to the high levels of efficiency, high top speed and Ozone’s trademark handling, it is also ideal for intermediate, even experienced pilots who enjoy low level buzzing and long XC adventures. The Spyder is for any pilot who wants to progress safely and push their boundaries with the reassurance of an EN B certified wing. The Ozone Spyder features a Shark Nose Ozone Reflex Profile (OZRP) tuned specifically for powered flight. The Shark nose profile maintains a constant level of lift and internal pressure over a wide range of angles of attack. This profile increases levels of stability in accelerated flight, meaning that it is very collapse resistant - even in turbulent air – and increases levels of forgiveness due to its acceptance of deep brake inputs before the stall point. The wing includes a host of other technical details such as mini ribs for efficiency; a refined sail tension to absorb turbulence and filter the feedback for a more comfortable ride; efficient and light plastic nose reinforcements and a line plan optimised to balance low drag efficiency and long term durability. The risers feature long range trimmers and a long range accelerator system for high cruise speeds and a high top speed. The accelerator and trimmers integrate seamlessly - using the speed system has exactly the same effect as releasing the trimmers. Unlike some other paramotor wings, it is possible and safe to fly with the trimmers in the fully slow (neutral) position whilst using the full range of the accelerator system. This is an important safety feature - if there is a departure from accelerated flight, the recovery characteristics will be better with the trims in the slow, certified position. The risers also feature a tip steering system (TST) for accurate, agile handling during accelerated flight and adjustable brake handle attachment points to suite different motor and trike units.Due to its exceptional inflation behaviour it is very easy to launch. The Spyder excels in nil wind conditions; the inflation is smooth and constant all the way to the zenith, whilst in stronger winds it is very progressive without the tendency to hang back or over-shoot. With the trimmers set to the slow position the take off speed is relatively low so it can launch and land within a short space. Handling has been tuned to be intuitive, predictable and forgiving but at the same time very precise and responsive. Although designed for pilots who fly mainly (if not exclusively) under power, the Ozone Spyder also performs excellently un-powered in free flight. The sink rate is low enough to soar in light lift, thermal in all conditions and the glide performance is good enough to fly cross country. The development of the Ozone Spyder has been a long slow process as it is not easy to make a wing that ticks all the boxes. It required several prototypes and lots of testing by the dedicated development team, but the hard work has been rewarded with a wing that does it all. It combines many features to dream of: • Easy nil wind inflation • Short take off distance • Ease of use• Low drag, high efficiency • High cruise speed • Very high top speed • Stability in turbulent air • Fun precise yet forgiving handling • TST (tip steering system) • Adjustable brake handle heights • Suitable for most power units • Shark Nose technology • EN B certification
  5. I was taught if your engines on then so should your helmet.
  6. Richard. Things will be much clearer after you've had proper training. You have enough going on when taking off to be worried about being on land illegally IMHO ? Have a look at this thread :
  7. I forgot to update this thread - apologies.? I spent 2 days driving around various counties and approaching famers/land owners. After a few good conversations I managed to get an email address from a managed dairy farm. I sent the owner and email explaining what we did and I know have a 1000 acre farm to fly from. Ive done about 20 flights from there and all has gone well - I simply put a little bit of cash in an envelope each time i fly. Thanks for all the tips ?
  8. Hi Chris, I learnt last year at Skyschool in Wiltshire - they are based there for July/August then move back to Italy and the Oman (so they follow the weather) then went to Italy for my second week a few months later. To echo what Simon said - its difficult to get 2 consistent weeks of weather to learn in the UK - where they fly in Italy is spectacular and the early morning and late evening conditions are very good for learning to fly plus the Skyshool team are professional and the training is very thorough. Although you have some additional costs in Italy like flights onsite accommodation its a brilliant place to learn - but the first week in the UK gave me a good idea of whether i wanted to get my licence (which i did ?) Good luck
  9. Huge credit to you posting this video - superbly shot and fair play for showing stuff the rest of us would have deleted! keep it up - you will be rewarded in the sky ?
  10. Spent a day on the beach flying my wing - got pretty sandy and wet. Best way to clean it ? Thanks
  11. I did skyschool - one week in the UK and one week in Italy. Great course. Allowed me to fly independently back in the UK.
  12. Prop Strike https://www.liveleak.com/view?t=a5OAN_1524246553 At least he managed to set up his GoPro
  13. Are these the first 6 flights ? ?
  14. Sorry to hear . I learnt with SkySchool in Italy last year - brilliant experience - set me up well for flying here.
  15. Nice videos - well edited ! As someone who has seen a helmet save someones life when they were on the ground please think about wearing a helmet when the motor is on your back. Apart from saving your ears - these spinny things can go wrong very quickly and very fast and - when they do - lots of nasty stuff gets spat out in all directions. Good luck - keep up the training and posts !
  16. Yes Andy - apologies I was actually perplexed by the use of 'paragliding' in the article rather than your posting of it here. "Right out of a fight" (turn right) is the general rule of thumb (all things being equal) when 2 skydivers head towards each other - Turn right but not so hard that you spiral/hit the ground. Normally its too late to make a safe manoeuvre this low hence the 'head on a swivel' when under canopy/wing so you don't get in this position in the first place.
  17. No idea why this is on here as its a skydiver incident - they mistakenly use the word paraglider. The slightly higher jumper (a Russian paratrooper - travelling from right to left onscreen) was not following the predesignated pattern. The skydiver that died, like the previous 22 jumpers, was following the agreed landing pattern. Two skydivers should never be facing each other on the final approach. Saying that - you have a responsibility to have your head on a swivel at all times under canopy - had she done this she could have acted accordingly. Blue Skies young lady RIP.
  18. Skydiving brought me here. Paramotoring is a quick way to get in the sky
  19. Find the local school to you and ask them - normally schools have the equipment that you use during training - perhaps (if they have got you qualified) they will come to an agreement to rent equipment to you once you've gone through their course.
