  6. If I may, can I ask other questions about airspaces? Concerning a "OTHER ACTIVITIES OF A DANGEROUS NATURE". What does "GVS" means? I'm looking at a specific one here: Name: AVONMOUTH GVS Lateral limit: A circle, 1 nm radius centred at 513150N 0023916W Upper limit: 3500 ft ALT Advisory Measures: Site operator recommended advisory vertical avoidance criteria, and rounded up to next 100 ft. Does that mean that it is 'advised' not to go there? Or forbidden?? Another one: Dangerous Zone: EG D119 BRIDGWATER BAY A circle, 4 nm radius centred at 511224N 0031353W Upper limit: 5000 ft ALT Lower limit: SFC Activity: Live Firing. Hours: When notified. Service: DAAIS: Yeovilton APP on 127.350 MHz when open; other times London Information on 124.750 MHz. I understand it's forbidden to fly there when the zone is active. But is there a simple way to know when it's active or not (internet/phone) instead of radio?? Thanks !!

  8. Hi all, This may seem a silly question, but I'm note sure what the legislation is for flying over cities/towns... In France, a minimum height is required, based on the size of the city, and clearly shown in the aeronautical maps with specific colors as below: On the UK map I bought, there does not seem to be a clear distinction: Hence my question: is there any other limitation apart from the general 1000ft min + maintaining sufficient height to achieve getting outside within ones glide ratio?   10. Hi all! I really don't want to ignite a flame war, but I'm interested in your opinion about something I just noticed. I've received today the latest Skywings magazine. Out of 47 pages, there is (if I did not miss anything) half a page, including 2 small photos dedicted to ppg (in fact about an event both for pg and pgg: parafest - yes, which took place in June!). Do you think this... surprising? Interesting? ? ?

  12. I'm going through my CP with Steve from Axis. He's really a great guy and great instructor and provide both paragliding and paramotoring lessons.
  13. We had a wonderful 3 days of flight. We were blessed with fabulous weather. Dan Burton and Richard Whitmarsh were brilliant in showing us around and help us enjoying those holidays. We all flew together and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Such a pleasure to fly, discover new horizons and scenery and meet new friends!! Some pictures from the week-end ( all the photos are here ):

  15. Hi there, I've got no reply/info yet from anyone in the area. I've tried contacting some small airfileds along the coast, but it seems paramotors are not as welcomed in microlight airfields as they are in South of France If you've got any other contact I can try, any help would be great Thanks!   16. Hi Guys, I'm currently living in Bristol, but am from Toulouse in South of France. A few friends are coming this summer (mig-August) to visit and we are hoping to fly around the south coast, somewhere between Portsmouth (where they arrive) to Cornwall. At the moment, I haven't been able to find anyone who could give us info on where to fly from or even to fly together. Any help would be greatly appreciated if you know some fields we could use or people I could contact to get more info. Thank you!!!!! Fix

  19. Hi Christian! Well, the worst part is the weather of course. The good slots are way more rare here (the last months are the one I've been flying the less since I started four years ago)... But it's nice to meet new pilots and see new landscape! (sorry George to highjack your post ) Fix

Hi all, I'm the French pilot who was with George and recorded the video (before that, I just had two engine failures... the first one I was able to take-off again, but the second one, George had to bring me back by car). As it's probably understandable if you watched the video, George had me worried sick when I saw him land... But, fortunately, no damage done! And I think it's a great experience to build on and to cut the engine high enough and train to land without the engine is still a very good training. As mentioned by Alan, an S-turn approach can help a lot (as aiming not to close to the fence ) Kudos George to have shared the video! Cheers, Fix
