  1. Think its solved now, had a flight the other day and gave it plenty of time to warm up before launch by holding the throttle at 50%. Didn't have any problem after a couple of minutes of that. Throttle opened up fine with instant power. Probably a jingle bell stuck in there from crimbo
  2. Ive adjusted the low idle setting on the tillotson carb so the revs are at the correct level, havent touched the high screw on the carb...there is a bit of oil on the props after ive run the engine for a while.
  3. Ok so i've got a small engine running issue i'm trying to figure out all though this might just be a normal thing with two strokes. The engine revs drop when I open the throttle lots quickly, if that makes any sense. It idles fine, and if you open up the throttle at a reasonable rate it delivers fine. It is probably a good thing that the revs drop a bit as its a Bailey JPX 330 and would probably start swinging me back and forward in no time at all if I were to open up throttle at that speed, however it would be nice to know that power would be there instantly if I needed it. I started by checking the fuel line. The inline filter was a bit crappy so that's been changed out. There were a few bubbles in the air line but not a massive amount, probably just vapourisation. The carb filter has been checked, no issues. As most people I haven't used the motor for a few months so used some carb cleaner which made the engine sound a bit smoother but still didn't eliminate the main issue. I've tried doing it when the engine has warmed up and the rev drop isn't as severe but you can still hear it drop. Any ideas folks?

Instead of bringing in a test system that requires a few manoeuvres on a calm day, why don't they just bring in a stamp book or a 'provisional flying' type licence so that if you have had training but not the full test you just make sure you fly with someone who's fully pledged? And maybe get your full license (to fly on your own if you wish) after x amount of hours flown. I'm all for training and think its mad that anyone wouldn't at least get some. But this sort of thing would still likely happen even if everyone did have full licenses with loads of experiences.
  5. I think the nearest stuff ive seen to that is the nikwax stuff I use for coating my Hein Gerricke motorbike clothing. Its pretty good. But nothing as effective as this stuff. If anything you could use it on the lines to help with drag. Coating an entire wing might need a bit more thought though.

  7. Look on the brightside, its getting lighter every day....although this is no help to the continuation of my training. Means I've read the entire 'Paramotoring from the ground up' book by Noel Whittal. Very good information in there.
  8. I've sort of surrounded by JPX with empty bottles of Heineken, its transformed a part of my garage into a kind of shrine. The triumph is feeling a bit left out as its the one usually getting all the attention. I think both are looking forward to the summer, the only one thats not is the missus! Oooopss!

  10. Thanks Guys I'm based just outside of Norwich (Poringland) does anyone know of a field I could use to launch/land in locally? What's the general response from farmers when being asked to use their fields as a launch site? There's plenty of good fields around here its just knowing which farmer they belong to. Sam
  11. Hi I started my training last year after seeing a Paramotor over the river Deben in Suffolk. I've always loved this part of the east coast on the water and thought it would be great to see it from the air, what better way to do it than by using a PPG. I live in Norwich so I'm currently in training with Karl at Norfolk Paramotors. I've bought a Dudek Nucleon 32 wing and a Bailey JPX 330 motor (yes who ate all the pies). The motor is in great condition and very powerful although I'm told parts for this engine are a little hard to come by these days. I'll just have to make sure I don't perform a circus cartwheel when coming into land and damage my prop! I've had my first flight, EPIC! The weather hasn't been that great for training for a while now so i've started up a new hobbie its called 'Staring at your paramotor with your mates in a cold garage'....don't think its going to catch on somehow. Looking forward to this year and becoming fully trained. I'm glad I found this forum its very helpful with lots of information. Thanks Sam
