  1. Ok all sorted. Managed to get hold of axb sports and I discovered that two of the straps had been connected to the harness for ground handling rather then to the frame. Sorted that it and managed to do a hang test in my garage on the scaffolding we have Tidied up the wiring that the previous owner had on there. Just need a new power cable as was manky.. weather to change and I'm all good for a few test flights
  2. Hi all. Yes I bought it secondhand. Just completely unsure how to setup the harness etc as my last one was a vest style harness. I've seen a lot of info online about it but been hanging in the garage today but can't start it in there whilst hanging. And really struggling to setup the seat etc so I can get out and also sit correctly Its an apco universal harness
  3. Hi all. . Finally after my dk whisper died on me last year I have got another paramotor. . It's a axb hawk with a vitorazzi easy 100.. I need a hang test doing as I'm not sure how to setup this style of harness etc. . I live in Paignton Devon but I'm not bothered if I have to drive for a couple of hours to get it setup properly. . The weather is lovely and I'm missing it all Please help Thanks Carl
  4. absolutely gutted .. was starting up the engine and let it tick over then just as I was about to launch and I heard a nasty noise... shut down immediately.. after investigating I noticed that the drum that sits on the back of the crankshaft was loose and proceeded to strip down and to my horror the end of the crankshaft has sheared off .... luckily the case. bearings, piston etc are in good condition being a dk whisper I rang parajet and just my luck they don't have these cranks anymore... an engineering company recommended drilling into the crank and threads a whole new section and remilling and balancing etc but they couldn't do it and didn't know of anyone down in Devon that could the other option is hand over the crank and get one made .. but god knows how much that would cost atm I have a pile of useless non flying junk in my garage and i'm gutted any advice apart from get a new paramotor lol
  5. might be tempted to start a club in the area but I get the feeling I might be the one in Torbay, but who knows. I did see someone do an emergency landing in Paignton last year but never managed to get to the field quick enough to ask where he was from... have been looking on google earth quite a lot and found a few possibles but i've noticed that the farmhouse closest to the field you want to enquire about usually aint the farmers field .. might have to trek a bit further out... hoping to do a flight from Newton Abbot to Paignton but follow the route of the new bypass there building as would love to see it from the air
  6. Yeah appreciate the feedback looks close but no town was over the pub and a out of use waterpark but same thing, needs to be 500 ft.. Said to my mate last night is not the place for regular takeoffs and landings... Just wanted to try The wing and only place I could think of... But gonna try find a farmers daughter and place nice .. plus no more wet wing
  7. Yeah i totally agree with you there. ill be moving to the far end of the beach. As people very rarely venture to that end.. failing that it will be a landing site if clear . Also ive checked out Slapton Sands and that looks like a good site that's been used before.. Just crap that theres not one flat field in torbay lol..
  8. Ok after my first short flight I forgot to start my go-pro and give my mate my phone I went up again for a short flight as on the first I wasn't confident with the brake lines and how the felt. With it being a new wing to me I thought Id go up again and it felt way better, my helmet view will be added soon, just sods law as I came in I was trying not to over correct the approach and did my best landing and even managed to turn and face the wing, but it just fell as the tide was brushing in.... good excuse to clean it and replace a few lines when they arrive from the-loft but all in all, I love the wing and even though a very short flight it was a good one and the views of Goodrington were awesome ignore the foot dragging on take off didn't think I would get airborne that quick as was trying to correct the takeoff https://vimeo.com/89137632
  9. I know I shouldn't laugh but i've had a few bevvies and the sound of him hitting that plane is hilarious, that panel sure takes a beating
  10. yeah that was me turning downwind behind me were clear skies.. its was bumpy but a fun learning curve and I cant wait to get back up... but in calmer conditions
  11. hi thanks for the info.. I was in the field for a good 40mins before the wind died down to acceptable levels then waited another 15 to see if any change etc, also checking online.. Once I get the frame back i'll be looking at getting up pretty soon but I think ill look at an early morning or evening flight as the wind is definitely calmer especially down here hopefully ill have a go-pro by then Cant Wait
  12. Well after two weeks of crap weather, no transport, the usual.. I managed to get myself in the air even if it was for only 10minutes.. It was average wind when I took off but once I got to about 500ft the wind became quite dangerous so I turned around and headed back to land. I landed in the field next to where I took off which was planned however about 10ft off the ground the wind shifted 90 degrees so it pulled me over to the left and I hit the ground with a bit of a bump got a bruise on my shin but nothing to go crying about. No Major damage to the engine, prop, wing etc just a crack in the frame, so it has been handed over to an engineering friend of mine who is gonna cut and sleeve the frame at the lower end to strengthen it a little more.. but it was was on those moments when you see the wind sock shift at the last minute and then you see the wind pulling the wing over and you just think .... OH CRAP! got a bruise on my shin but nothing to cry about ill be up again as soon as the frame is repaired but when I was up there I turned towards Torbay seafront and all I can say is WOW, and I need a gopro
  13. have to say a big thanks to simon... This was my first fly-in and after 1 days training on Saturday (yes I was the mad one waiting and waiting in the launch area with my wing to practise ground handling) and a few drinks and a good laugh in the evening I got my first two flights in on sunday, which was awesome.... big thanks to Dave Widdup for the training and guidance and again thanks to simon and everyone for a great weekend... will definitely be going to the next one Carl
  14. not the best pics.... to busy training
