  1. I've done some trawling the internet having found 6061 T6 aluminium hard to come by in the UK. Turns out it is more readily available in the US (where these plans are were written). I have read that 6082 T6 is nearly identical in composition and characteristics ....and that is much more readily available at Metals4U, amongst others, I'm sure www.metals4u.co.uk/aluminium/c1/tube/c22/25.4mm-x-3.2mm-(-1od-x-10swg-)/p978 So I think 6082 T6 will be good for the structural stuff, but not sure whether it will work for the Front fork which needs to be formable...any metalurgists here? Thanks for the Wheeleez supplier, Andy. I had seen them in my trawling but had assumed wrongly that packaging to UK would make them about as expensive. They are still eye wateringly expensive ,though, compared to say something like this. I know theyre not the same, but would they really not work? http://www.rosscastors.co.uk/260mm-pneumatic-tied-wheel-with-roller-bearings.html Next stop for me is to find the fibreglass axle material
  2. Hi Andy I have these plans, too, and have been rather half heartedly looking for parts, but havent really got started because I couldnt find anywhere to get the Wheeleez wheels at a reasonable price. Best i could find in this country was here, http://www.rosscastors.co.uk/balloon-beach-wheels-300mm-diameter-wz1-30uc.html at £100 a pop! Would be really interested to know where you got the aviation aluminium, and if you had to buy longer lengths than you need would be pleased to buy off you. These any good for the U bolts? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/U-bolts-nuts-zinc-plated-for-british-standard-pipe-in-nominal-bore-BSP-sizes/251915657066?hash=item3aa757df6a:m:mQX6KJkFMIESIGElMkW4aTQ. this is what popped up on ebay On the carbon fibre, I did some bending calcs on http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/#!/cured-carbon-fibre-products/carbon-fibre-tube/roll-wrapped-carbon-fibre-tube/carbon-fibre-tube-roll-wrapped-22-2mm.html and found it was more than capable of supporting 160kg load (even doubled to allow for impact load), I wasnt sure, though about its capability to withstand the crushing/ line loading where it enters the holding tube on the axle angle, certainly I think it could do with an aluminium insert there and anywhere its clamped.....all of which might negate the weight saving. When I totted up the weight I thought it was going to be possible to come in under 14kgs, which I need if I want to stay with my present wing. Very interested to see how you get on
  3. Sorry, am I missing the point? What is powering the generator that is producing the electricity to run your Brushless motor?
  4. Well...yes, in principle, if you have somewhere suitable to take off,and land, the weather is flyable (and is likely to be flyable on the way home),and you dont have to fly in restricted airspace, etc, etc. So you could, but dont expect it to be a reliable form of transport day in day out. If I was to take a punt at guessing, Id say 1 or 2 days in 5 over the Summer and not for whole weeks at a time in the Winter.
  5. Its just in Lands End ATZ which goes right down to surface
  6. A few Berkshire pilots are meeting in The Elephant in Pangbourne this evening at 7:30 (Thursday 18th Jan 2018). Anyone is welcome.
  7. Sorry, missed this. Not much faster, definitely more fuel efficient about 4.5lts/hr against 6 on the Synth 1, but landings not better, I still glide and slide
  8. I've done similar. Any fuel that got out of the can settled in a nice blanket of vapour at ground level and when ignited as the can reached the bonfire, came right back to you with a big whooomf. And if the ground had been sloping towards you it would have surrounded you aswell.
  9. Start here http://shop.helix-propeller.de/en/paramotor-props/?p=1&o=1&n=6&f=336
  10. Call me old fashioned, but why wouldnt you go straight to Vittoazi's website, but to save you searching, Sections, 6 & 7 http://www.vittorazi.com/public/file/12274762005472fbc4d0cd5.pdf
  11. Always difficult to tell from a photo, not knowing what the lens has done, but on the face of it, that looks fine. Cowshit will stain the wing but wont really do it any harm if sponged off with warm water, only
  12. With a V3 Moster 185 at 29kg that means the trike has got to come in at less than 27kg...........that sounds like a big ask
  13. Simon, what news on this, have PJ managed to lighten the Falco? And presumably to get it completely within the 70kg rule the unladen airframe UNFUELLED will need to be 56kg wont it? Given it can take 14lts of fuel
  14. I have just been to a Thames Valley Aeroclub meeting and met someone who was there. What he saw was a paraglider or paramotor , (too far to see or hear an engine), but the behaviour he described- long straight track at constant altitude, did make it sound more like a paramotor.
  15. This is good to know, I was just about to order one. Just aswell I havent been able to contact PJ or id have got one of the duff ones. Cas, are you saying, make the whole gasket out of annealed 1mm copper sheet? fitted dry or with some sort of HT sealant?
  16. Well, he did give that in the answerphone message.....but it came with a " and if youre standing in a field, and stuck, ring this number" message . I'm not....so I didnt
  17. Is it just me or has anyone else been experiencing difficulty in getting to talk to the Paramotor people at Parajet. Last week I was after a prop, this week I want an exhaust bushing kit for a Moster Plus. You always used to be able to get to talk to Dan, Tom or John and order there and then, now you either get an answerphone message or a Gilo Indusries contact offering to leave a message on a desk. While I'm on then- where's the quickest place to get the bush kit and an exhaust gasket?
  18. Sorry, not been on here for a few days. Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it and delay no further, get yourself signed up somewhere, you wont regret it. 4 years on my enthusiasm for it remains undiminished.
  19. Spectacular Blimey! Thats taken sometime to get to air, I remember you going to film that, it was over a year ago, wasnt it?
  20. Ive just dropped out of the Bore Chasers event........so there's a space
