  1. Thanks for that Pete. Unfortunately half of the screw bracket on the exhaust (the bit that attaches to the engine) cracked off mid-flight, somewhere over Dartmoor. With all the vibration and clanging around the exhaust has multitude of fractures, so it's just not worth trying to repair, let alone machine a new connecting part to the engine. Really appreciate the offer though. I'm a bit loathed to keep this old girl air worthy as it's getting expensive, but I'm still feeling the love. Paul.
  2. Hi. I presume it's a Solo 210 engine? If so, I've used the NGK BR8ES for years and have never had a problem with them. The non-resistor type B8ES apparently also works okay. Hope it helps, Paul.
  3. I've cracked me exhaust and I'm looking for either a standard or tuned exhaust for the Solo 210. I'm not looking for anything brand new and without a scratch, but something that isn't cracked would be nice. Reasonable price paid. I'm located in Devon, please include postage in the cost. Paypal, cheque or cash paid. Thank you, Paul Richardson. 01626 334389 p.richardson1@btinternet.com Come on guys and gals, sell me an exhaust cos I can't fly without one!
  4. Hi Dave, A very good engineer friend of mine sorted my gap problems out. Take a normal card (not plastic) business card and place it between the coil and magneto and then tighten the coil in to place. It's near as impossible to measure to within several thousandts of an inch (for me anyway). The business card trick is apparently used quite heavily in agricultural engineering circles and it did the trick with me. Card is far better than plastic because the card will bend around the circumference of the magneto. Give it a crack and let me know how you get on Paul.
  5. Had similar problems last year and spent hundreds replacing needless components. Is the gap between the coil and magneto correct and are they NOT touching at all? Best way to measure the gap is with a business card believe it or not. Card between the coil & magneto then tighten the coil. Give this a go and let me know because it seems exactly like my old problem. Paul.
  6. Hi James, Just a word of advice from a lorry driver... Unless you have a job lined up then don't get any hopes up. The haulage industry is falling flat on it's backside at the moment. Some experienced class 1 (C+E) drivers are working for as little as £6 per hour... How many hours to make up for your training? This is one of the few industries where wages have fallen over the past 10 years, and new drivers are finding it hard, if not impossible to get a foot-hold in any job because there are so many experienced drivers clambering to fill the positions. If you decide to, then I wish you all the best mate. If you want any help/advice with anything to do with lorries then please get in touch. Paul.
  7. Hi Dave, Sent you a PM regarding the motor. Please check and get back to me asap. Thanks, Paul.
  8. Hello. I had a real dinger today. I have a Solo 210 engine mounted on a Walkerjet frame. As I've not used the motor in a while, I thought I would start it up and run it a while. About 10 minutes in to the run the bottom engine mount bolt must have worked loose and it hit the prop - destroying the prop and the bolt. The engine casing seems un-damaged thankfully. I should have chequed the bolts - dick head! Anyway - The engine has 3 mounting bolts, 2 at the top and one at the bottom, which came loose. The two at the top have large rubber washers that help absorb vibration, but I can't remember for the life of me if the bottom one did. Q1) Does the bottom bolt have a rubber washer. Q2) Does anyone know the exact type of bolt - E.G. M8 or M6, also the lengths. I'm presuming someone has the answer to these rather specific questions as I'm guessing most Solo 210 engine mount configurations are the same? The engine doesn't seem damaged as I shut it down immediately. At least I'm hoping it's not knacked. A new prop is ordered and on the way. Many thanks, Paul.
  9. Hello. I own a Solo 210 with Walbro carb. I'm no engineer to say the least, and I really need to find somewhere that can service and repair paramotors, preferably within the Devon / Somerset / Dorset areas. Does anyone have a clue where I can find somewhere? I've looked on the net but with no luck. Be it a business or an individual who is well clued up, I'd really appreciate some help. Many thanks & have a good Christmas, Paul.
