  1. I have the Menari , PXP frame , electric and pull start 6 deg helix prop , just awsome 130 hours + lots of power the 180 deg config is nice , low centre of gravity , 4 of us in Cape Town with Menari , I think it is more reliable than Moster if I compare with other pilots flying Mosters , The Menari use the same piston than the Moster .
  2. Hi contact Marcmotor in Italy , I have bought Ros engines and spares from him , he is in Italy he manufactures the Ros engines , here is a link to his site hope it helps . http://www.rosmotor.it/
  3. Hi do you weigh 145 ? or does it include the motor ? My naked weight in 2008 was 145 kg and I flew the Eden 3 , 33 m and I used a PAP Ros 125 no problem over , I flew well over100 hours on the wing no collapses at all , a mate of mine weighed 135 kg and he flew the Eden 3, 31 m and he flew it for 3 years , nice for free flying as well .
  4. I have a PXP Menari with electric start , I have done just over 120 hours on mine , awsome motor , I am heavy 138 on speedster 33 and use about 4 liters a hour . I weighs about 28 kg empty . I had to change my piston at 105 hrs , I ran it to lean . I used a Moster piston it is exactly the same , same serial no on Vertex piston . Good thrust My mates used it for a couple of tandems with my 33 speedster . I would say it have the same power than the Moster with the only difference being the electric start . There is 4 of these units in Cape Town without any problems . The only mod we have done is to change the ring gear , the standard one cracked , I had them laser cut from steel , all the best , Thys .
  5. Hi it might be that your pop off pressure is too low , see if you can borrow a gauge to test it look at http://www.larssletten.net/My%20stuff/w ... t-eng.html The pop-off pressure is the pressure at which the needle valve will open thus letting the fuel to enter the metering chamber. The value of this pressure is a function of the engine, power output and other factors and it will directly affect the air-fuel mixture that the carburetor will deliver to the engine. It is true that the mixture adjustments are done by the HI and LO screws but if the pop-off pressure is too high, it can lead to fuel starvation especially at high RPM. Such a situation will cause engine overheating and possibly lead to a seizure. If the pop-off pressure is too low, the carburetor will have a flooding tendency especially at low and mid RPM. It will also cause difficulties in restarting a warm engine.
  6. Hi Notch , I think the 33 speedster will to big for you , I weigh 138 kg and fly the 33 with ease , some of my mates use it to do tandems pilot 85 and pax up to 75 kg at sea level . look at the following link , speedster 33 - naked pilot weight 128 , 30 pilot of 105 ( you ) , test fly a 30 first http://para2000.org/wings/index.html , go to ozone and then speedster , all the best .
  7. Hi Notch , the Speedster is a great wing , I have well over 100 hours on my Speedster and not one collapse , I fly in South-Africa and and can be quite hot and thermic here , the Speedster can handle what ever the pilot wants it to do , if you have low hours and you have small inputs the wing will behave like a beginner wing and if you pul it hard and aggressive you can fly comps with it , and it ground handles like a dream , the best wing I have ever had .( my 4th wing ) enjoy , Thys .
  8. Hi Stuart here is a link how to check your pop off pressure http://www.aerocorsair.com/id28.htm you can go to a chain saw shop or ask around for a pop off gauge , I made mine myself but it better to use one than to built one or buy one because it is expensive . I have other links if this one don't help . The pop off on my PXP Menari 180 is 16 psi and it reseat value 11 . The reseat value is important if it is to low your carb will flood , your carb operates between 7 and 8 psi so ideal your reseat value should be a minimum of 10 psi . You can ask your manufacturer of the motor what the pop off should be , or google it . If the bottom part of your engine is fine it can only be , pop off , leaking head gasket , or your head bolts was loose I check mine frequently and sometimes it need some tightening , or somehow someone turned your high screw . You say that the carb is 2 months old did you tune it with the motor running on your back ? if not this might also be part of the problem , all the best , Thys .
  9. Hi Stuart 200 hours I would defnitaly replace the crank seals and main bearings , that will force you to replace the bottom gasket , not a expensive exercise about 50-60 £ if you do it yourself , I went thru the same with a Blackdevil a couple of years ago it was the crank seals , just make sure you use Viton seals they can stand the heat , you get it from your local bearing suppliers . There is not much to a 2 stroke engine if your seals and bearings is fine it could go for thousands of hours . Most of outboard engine seizures is caused by crank seals . You just need a small press .
  10. Hi Stuart I have rebuilt a couple of paramotor engines , first what type of motor is it ? if a Ros 125 it could be the decompression valve , oring or dirt is carb on the pump side ( look if little filter inside carb is blocked ) If the pop off pressure is to high the motor can run to lean , it can also be a leaking base gasket or one of your crank seals can be leaking , how many hours on the motor and type ? all the best Thys .
  11. Hi I had the revo1 and now fly a speedster , if you want a smile on your face the speedster is the one ( speedster wing almost weigh over 2 kg less ) . Go test fly them , the revo 2 is a change of glider not a improvement also much older technology , if you are a paramania fan what about the fusion ? the speedster is much more agile that is why I compare it with the fusion . Go and test fly , hope you gonna get rid of the smile after test flight on speedster , my 2 cents , Thys . ( the speedster ground handles like a dream )
  12. Hi Kenneth , I forgot to tell you we have a suburb in Cape Town known as Goodwood ! , most of the towns names in SA is from British origen , I have been in Australia this past December and could not believe how many towns share names with us .
  13. Hi I stay in Cape Town , if you come let me know if we can be of any help , technical assistance , or a place to stay . Cape Town is a nice place to fly , make your trip to L'Augulas the most southern tip of Africa only 180 km further , if you need any help or info let me know , all the best , Thys
  14. Thank you will give it a try , I have landed on the white line a couple of times but then the wing floats forever , could be fun on full fast .
  15. Hi morgy , you say that you always land on trims fully opened ? do you stay at high altitude or at sea level ? Only the pilots flying at high altedute in our country land on full speed , I stay at the coast and land on full slow on my Speedster , easy soft landing every time . What is your reason for landing on speed ? maybee I can learn a thing or 2 , thank you Thys .
  16. Hi all , I fly a lot with the brake handle in hand and my index finger thru the wing tip toggle ; using both is just awsome very sharp but stable turn .I have flown thru rough air on slow trims on my speedster 33 and if I just step on the speed bar I can feel that the wing is very stable . My opinion about the speedster owners manual is that they say , that in very rough air they recomend flying closed trims and active because most reflex wings are not certified on full fast , so if something will go wrong it will be more severe , doesn't matter what brand of reflex you do fly . Even the champs in my country says if it gets very rough they prefer slow and active .
  17. Hi I agree it all depends if you use a certified tandem wing , there are a few tandem operators in Cape Town who make money out of tandem flights .They all use proper tandem wings and kit , some of them use PAP Black Devil 175 , PAP Moster 185 , PXP 180 Menari and one guy is using a Simonini . So you will see the smallest tandem machine is 175 cc , they all do it with ease even 0 wind , most of them do forward launches all the time . There have also been a couple of tandems on PAP Ros 125 with pilot 85 kg and passenger 105 kg , there is enough thrust but I wount do it all the time on a small motor the motor have to work too hard .
  18. Hi Bary I am also only 1,78 m for my 135 kg ( I am glad it is not 145 anymore) I played rugby and was a tight head prop , so I agree with you to get easy in the harness is very important , the motor is not all that important when I was 145 I flew a PAP Ros 125 with ease using a Mc Para Eden 33 , later I flew a PXP ros 125 , I found the PXP harness easier to get into and you can run much easier with it the legstraps and chest straps are one . I then flew Paramania revo36 with the PXP 180 , some of my friends fly the Moster great machine but I find the Speedster to be great . A friend of mine did 2 tandems on my 33 he weigh 105 kg and the pax 60 they took off from the beach with wind so light they had to do a forward with no problem . A friend of mine weigh 130 kg and fly PAP Ros 125 with my old Eden 33 with no problems . Hope you get sorted .Thys
  19. Hi morgy if I might say something , I have flown a tandem wing solo it has a lot of negatives , how much does he weigh ? I have more than 400 flights weighing between 145 and 135 kg just myself and can give good advice what wing could work for a heavy pilot . I did a 0 wind forward launch yesterday on a Ozone speedster 33 with no problems just a couple of steps .Thys
  20. Hi Barry sorry to hear about all the problems , if I may ask how much do you weigh you said you are a heavy pilot ? I am asking because I weigh 135 naked and fly easy with other type of motors ? I have flown 4 types of motors with no problems and I weighed 145 a while ago , Thys .
  21. Hi morgy , here ia a link http://www.pxparamotorspeedrace.com/ind ... race/rules if I take my weight 135 x 8 /6 gives me 180 , click on the link they give samples for dudek and ozone speedster . Thys ( if you / first and then x the answer stays the same )
  22. Hi Morgy take your weight multiply it by 8 and devide it with 6 , that should give you a good indication for your all up ppg weight . This the formula they used in the PXP race held in Europe last month that was won by Matheu with a speedster , hope it will help , it worked for me , the formula came from the clever guys they dindnt want any one to over load a wing .Thys
  23. Hi all , I got my new Ozone speedster33 on Friday and took it for 3 flights yesterday . I have well over 400 flights and flying with this wing is the best feeling ever ! the wing came up like a dream very easy ground handling and took of like a dream . I weigh 135 kg and flew a revo 36 , although the speedster is 3 m smaller I didn't need a longer runway . The wing is way less power hungry when I flew about a meter high over the beach for the first time ever I needed less than 5000 rmp to maintain altitude (flying PXP 180) it uses at least 600-800 less rpm than revo . The wing responded very well to the tip steering . The only thing is that if you are in reflex mode trimmers all open to pull them back in is quite hard to do , I had to pull very hard , the revo you could pull inn with 2 fingers . The speedster is a great wing , Thys .
  24. Hi to answer the first question about the PAP Ros 125 , we have done a few tests with the Ros 125 with tandems ; It all depends on your wing , if you use a proper tandem wing within weight range and a tandem kit no problem , we have done it at Cape Town pilot 80 kg and passenger 105 kg and a few other no problem what so ever . If you want to do tandem regularly , get yourself a proper tandem motor although the Ros can do it the motor have to work hard .Would you tow a boat with a 1600cc car or a v6 ? Most of our tandem ppg flights is forward launch even if the wind is strong there is just too much that can go wrong if your pax do not work with you . In South-Africa a pilot need to have more than 300 hours and a sport lisence before you can start your tandem course , you also have to have a first aid course and a he'll of a difficult exahm to pass , all the best Thys .
  25. Hi my name is Thys I am from Cape Town , South-Africa , my naked weight was 145 kg so I think I can share some info . I started with a Swing mistral twin tandem glider and flew a pap black devil . I agree with the other posts a tandem glider is not ideal , the glider is heavy and slow . I then bought the Mcpara Eden 3 , 33 m rated 145-193 ppg , what a great wing although I was at the top end I enyoid the wing I did well over 100 hours on wing , forget to mention I flew with a pxp with ros 125 , easy take-off just get airspeed while running and apply brakes till take off . At this stage I am flying a Paramania Revo 36 , I don't fly with a speedbar this wing is fast at open trims , I fly with PXP 180 at this stage . I hope that my experience on the gliders might help I have just under 400 flights with 350 hours . I want a new glider but have no idea what to buy at this stage maybe the 34 flexway from Adventure , I want a reflex wing any ideas ? my weight now 135 kg thank you Thys .
